Inspired places to visit from Farm Stay

07/07/2015
Here at FarmstayUK we often write about the countryside and the kinds of holidays you can enjoy right here in the UK, whether you’re a couple, a single, friends or an entire family. So with the school holidays not too far off, we thought we’d focus in on some great destinations if you’re thinking of booking your next holiday.

Remember, no matter where you choose to go, FarmstayUK has a massive selection of properties to choose from. These include working farms, countryside cottages, bed and breakfasts and more. So do check our accommodation search or our special offers for some great accommodation and value!

Hexham
You may not realise but Hexham has been voted England’s best market town. It’s a great destination for those wanting to see Hadrian’s Wall and it is a great place for walkers, who want to enjoy diverse countryside.

There is a wonderful Farmers Market which takes place twice a month on a Saturday and here you can enjoy some truly locally produced foods.

Henley-on-Thames
Aside from the Royal Regatta and all the boating that goes on here, it’s a great place to visit for the towpath route. Suitable for walkers of any age you are not too far to access places like Windsor and Legoland!

For historians, you may enjoy the River and Rowing Museum and what is quintessentially an English day out!

Canterbury
You most likely know of Canterbury Cathedral but if you’ve not been we can recommend it very highly. However, that’s not all there is to see here. With some wonderful walkways and cycling routes very close by it’s a great way to enjoy the countryside to the full.

The City Wall Trail is of particular interest and takes just a couple of hours to complete. This wall goes half way around the city of Canterbury and is probably a must for anyone who wants to get a sense of the city’s scale.

Bakewell
This is a market town that’s in the heart of the Peak District and it’s even mentioned in the Domesday book. Obviously with a name like Bakewell you quite rightly may think of the puddings! But there's a lot more to Bakewell than it's sweet treat.

Jane Austin actually wrote Pride and Predjudice right here and if you do visit, you should take some time to take a look at Chatsworth House. This is said to be the fictional Pemberley Hall in Austin’s book, so it’s definitely worth visiting if you are a fan of this infamous story.

Isle of Wight
This gorgeous Island is a wonderful place to visit for all ages and boasts so much to do! There are walks aplenty, attractions to keep the children happy, beaches... the list is endless!

With just a half an hour ferry ride from the South coast you can enjoy the quaintness of this island with ease.

This is a great destination for those who want to slow down just a bit and enjoy a slower pace of life for a few days.

We hope you feel inspired to choose the UK as your holiday destination this bank holiday or summer. We’ve just scratched the surface here. There’s so many other places to consider like the Cotswolds, Scotland, Devon, Cornwall, Shakespeare Country, the Lake District and so many more!

Why not take a look at some of the wonderful FarmstayUK member properties now and start planning your next break?
