Short Breaks Leicestershire
The National Space Centre, just north of Leicester city centre, is one of the UK’s leading tourist attractions. The centre has a large array of space-craft on display, the Sir Patrick Moore Planetarium- a 360 degree cinema experience, a 42 metre high rocket tower- built to house the Blue Streak and Thor Able rockets, and much, much more. Fun for adults and children alike, The National Space Centre is an attraction unique to Leicestershire and a must-visit for anyone with curious children or an interest in space and science.
Elsewhere in Leicestershire Twycross Zoo is a good place to visit for those who lean more towards nature than science. Boasting one of the best collections of primates in Western Europe as well as elephants, snow leopards and giraffes, to name but a few more animals. Overall Twycross Zoo is a great place to spend a day, especially- but not exclusively- for those with children.
Throughout Leicestershire there is a fine collection of castles and country estates open to the public. The castles of Belvoir, Ashby de la Zouch and Leicester are all worth a visit, while Belgrave Hall and Kelmarsh Hall are both elegant former stately homes also open to the public.
Leicestershire has a great variety of attractions from which almost any demographic can find something to enjoy. For those travelling without children it is well worth booking your weekend break at one of our properties outside of term time, when discounted rates are available.
