West Yorkshire Introduction

Tourism, heritage, culture and a very warm welcome combine to offer a unique experience to visitors.  From a heavy, dirty, industrial past West Yorkshire has re-emerged to show a new face to Yorkshire with an entirely new perspective, but where tantalising insights into the past are not forgotten.

From Haworth, home of the Bronte family, surrounded by the wild, rugged, rolling moors to the city centre shopping in Leeds, West Yorkshire gives a fascinating insight into its old industrial, and new cultural heritage.

Nowadays a haven of TV and film locations, historical houses, industrial heritage and fantastic scenery await you.

Bradford is a city rich in history from its woollen heydays and its multi-cultural diversity.  The industrial past is still very evident in its architecture and buildings like the City Hall.

Leeds‘ buildings are of infinite variety - like the Town Hall, the City Varieties Music Hall built in 1885 and the modern Royal Armouries.  The regeneration of the city makes it a very thriving place to be Sport, clubbing, shopping and eating out, and the vast open spaces of the parks and gardens ensure a varied and interesting vibrant city.

You can also escape to the countryside and the stunning scenery of the Pennine Moors and the smaller towns like the market town of Otley, Hebden Bridge and Holmfirth home of ‘Last of the Summer Wine’ Come and see for yourself, and taste the delights of cosmopolitan West Yorkshire.
