Great Yorkshire Show

05/07/2017
The 159th Great Yorkshire Show takes place next week on the outskirts of Harrogate, North yorkshire with 130 000 visitors expected to attend the event.
Organised by the Yorkshire Agricultural Society, the event takes place from Tuesday 11th July  to Thursday, 13th July and is rated as one of the best countryside shows in the country.

Whatever your tastes, the show caters for everyone.  See some of the best livestock the country has to offer, with 8500 animals being on show including cattle, sheep, pigs and pigeons.  The national charolais society will be holding its national show with around 75 head of cattle expected.  A newly revamped collecting ring will host some significant competition between some of the countries leading showjumpers.  View some of the newest most hightec agricultural machinery available or if your preference is vintage, Fordson will be celebrating 100 years on the Presidents lawn with a display of machinery dating back to 1917.
TV stunt horses will be in the main ring as will the RAF Falcons who will be performing a parachute display for the first time.

Look out for a new street food court selling both local and international cuisine including from the shows own food hall and cafe Fodder, the only one of its kind in  the country where 100% of the profits go back into a rural charity (The Yorkshire Agricultural Society).  Food is always a popular aspect of the show and visitors can enjoy the many cookery demonstrations that take place over the duration of the show including TV chefs such as Rosemary Shrager.

Visit the forestry area or meander around the many stands, craft stalls or other stands that will be marketing their wares at the show.  If gardens are your thing, atime spent in the floral section or show gardens will be time well spent for sure.

Many of our Farm Stay member properties are within easy travelling distance of the show so why not combine a great day out celebrating Rural England and everything the countryside has to offer with a rural stay in a Yorkshire Farm Stay B&B or Self Catering cottage - just pop Yorkshire into the search box on the home page of the website.
