It tells the story of salt through fun, interactive displays including a sound and light show simulating the billowing steam of the salt-pans, a ‘subsiding house’ and an automaton.
There is no charge to park, visit the Museum’s large industrially-themed play area, café or well-stocked shop but there is an entry fee to visit the Museum.

The Museum has won eight awards since opening in June 2015, after a four-year £10m refurbishment. It holds year-round events, many of them free. Events include a Steam Transport Festival, Magic Festival, Salt Saturday, Summer events for children, Halloween Spooktacular and a Christmas Fair. Paid for events include award-winning plays from the Cheshire Rural Touring Arts and musical events.
