Stay at our peaceful 500-year-old beamed farmhouse on an arable farm near Ipswich (6 miles). We offer quality bed and breakfast in a relaxed atmosphere at our family home, and we look forward to meeting you.
The house and land belonged to Cardinal Wolsey in the 1520s until it was taken away from him by King Henry Vlll and given to Eton College, hence the name College Farm. It has been carefully modernised over the years to make a comfortable family home, but retains many of the original features.
There is a Double/ Twin ensuite room and a Double room with private bathroom in the farmhouse, with a Twin /Double ensuite room in a ground-floor stable conversion in the garden which has its own entrance. All rooms have central heating, hot drinks tray, Freeview TV and radio alarm clocks plus added luxuries such as toiletries, sweets & fresh flowers.
The guests' sitting room has a Freeview TV, a variety of books and log fires for cold winter evenings. Breakfast is served in the dining room where you can enjoy an award-winning farmhouse meal freshly cooked on the Aga with local Suffolk produce. Good food is available at the nearby pub for your evening meal just half a mile away.
There is an 18-hole golf course in the village, with horse-riding and fishing lakes nearby. We are ideally placed to visit 'Constable Country', the Wool Towns of Lavenham and Hadleigh, Sutton Hoo Viking Exhibition Centre (National Trust) near Woodbridge and Suffolk's Heritage Coast. Central London is only 75 minutes away by train from Ipswich Station, and the 2012 Stadium is just 60 minutes. Cambridge and Norwich are an hour away by car. Discover for yourselves what this part of South Suffolk has to offer.
