Paul and Hilary welcome you to Harmony House an AA four star gold B&B in a small rural village 6 miles south of York. We hope you will find us the perfect antidote to city life.

Harmony House overlooks the flower meadow called The Green in the rural village of Stillingfleet  approx 6 miles south of York.  You will find it is easily accessible from all major motorways and is a pleasant 10 minute rural drive to the outskirts or the park and ride at McArthur Glenn

If you arrive between 3&5pm  a cup of tea will be waiting after your journey.  If you prefer not to venture out again in the evening we can offer an evening meal, supper or snack if booked in advance.  You can also invite friends or family to join you for lunch, afternoon tea or dinner. Within a few miles of Harmony House there is an exceptional selection of pubs and restaurants.

All our rooms are ensuite and tastefully themed.  You will find in each room a hospitality tray with homemade biscuits, snacks and a variety of hot drinks and a fridge with complimentary cold drinks and fresh milk.    BT inifinity is available throughout the house and is free to use.

Our food is homemade and sourced from local suppliers. Castle Howard or our local butcher provide our meat and the eggs  from a nearby farm. A lighter alternative is always available from omeletter to eggs Benedict or smoked haddock. Our  comfortable guest lounge has a log fire in the winter and in the summer you can sit on the patio overlooking the wildflower meadow and hopefully catch a glimpse of the barn owl.

Harmony House is a short drive to the historic City of York where you can visit the museums, be astounded by York Minster or walk around the Roman Walls. Sit in the Museum gardens or take a trip on the river to see the Archbishops palace

Dating back to the 17C Harmony House  was formerly agricultural cottages and house and owned by the local estate of  The Prestons at Moreby Hall.  In its day it has housed the local reading room, sunday school, post office and stabled carriages whilst the occupiers were at Church.    It has now been sympathetically modernised to modern day comforts whilst retaining many original characteristics.

In the village you can explore the pathways around the Green and to the river or visit the Norman Church which is steeped in history.  For any gardeners Stillingfleet Lodge Gardens in the village is a 'quintessentially English garden' open to the public on certain days.

Harmony House is ideally placed between York and Selby and the villages of Escrick, Riccall Cawood and Naburn are all within a 3 mile radius  Conveniently situated south of York  it has easy access to York University, Fulford, York racecourse. Selby Abbey, Elvington Airfield

Children  cannot be accommodated in the house but there is a self-catering annex which is ideal as a family room for which we provide a continental breakfast hamper. It can also be a self-catering unit for 2 persons. Perfect for both holiday makers and business visitors alike.

Hilary was trained at the Cordon Bleu school of cookery and Harmony House hosts 'Simply cooking in harmony',  a small cookery school in its 10th year where you can enjoy cookery activity days as a group of friends or families. Paul after a lifetime in the automotive industry enjoys restoring classic cars  and bikes and has a hobby of cross country landrover trialling.

Additional Directions Information

Take the A19 south from York following the signposts for Selby. After passing through Escrick, take the right turn signposted to Stillingfleet.

At the Cross Keys Pub in Stillingfleet, turn right down the hill and over the bridge signposted to York. At the end of the bridge and opposite the Church turn left into The Green. Harmony House is situated 2nd on the right, with ample parking to the front.

In keeping with the village we have only a slate Harmony House sign to the left of the steps at the front of the house. There are no 'Guest House', 'AA'' or neon signs outside. There is a picket fence, a very old holly tree and a white old fashioned gas lamp in the front garden
Please do not drive up the public footpath to the side of the house.

Stillingfleet can also be accessed via the B1222 through Naburn or Cawood. In both these cases turn on to the green opposite the Church lytch gate.
