Business is a pleasure in Devon and Cornwall

Finding myself in North Devon, the end of my long drive, was a long drive!  The long drive in question was that of Huxtable Farm, a five star Bed and Breakfast and the home of Jackie and Antony Payne based close to West Buckland, on the way to Barnstable and the North Devon beaches.  This medieval longhouse is based on a working sheep farm and has all of the hallmarks of a historic building, including low beams and sloping floors.  With an hour to spare before dinner, offered in house on certain nights, I was able to wander the farm paths, through managed woods carpeted in bluebells.

After a proper Farm Stay breakfast of fresh fruit, yoghurt, local sausage, eggs and bacon, I left behind North Devon, along with my brain! I headed for Looe in Cornwall, forgetting that Sat Nav and maps are best used together.

My destination was Trenderway Farm, set in 200 acres of beautiful countryside, which offers couples a perfect 5 Star Cornish haven in a stunning location bordering Cornwall's Heritage Coastline.  This  Grade II Listed farmhouse, and rooms in the adjacent barns, are furnished with style and equipped to a very high standard.  It is a short drive from the Eden Project, while the harbour villages of Polperro and Looe are just a pleasant walk away on the South West Coast Path.

From here to deepest Cornwall, and St Buryan, a short distance from Penzance towards Lands End.  Here Carolyn and Richard Care were ready to welcome me to Downs Barn Farm, another 5 star Gold B&B of outstanding quality.  Our evening walk with the farm dogs took us down a sun speckled woodland path, with burbling brook to the bouldered beach at St Loy Bay, which is spectacular and remote, was as appreciated as the fresh cornish tea upon arrival.

If you are travelling for work, there really is no better way, no better value for money, than the Farm Stay way!
