Details

Peaceful rural location with far reaching views over rolling countryside on a family beef/sheep farm. A great place to relax, unwind and switch off in an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Tucked away on a working family farm the Shepherd's Huts have privacy in a peaceful rural setting with fantastic views over rolling countryside. Well equipped each hut gives you a chance to get away from it all, switch off, relax and be a one with nature. The Huts are far enough apart for complete privacy but close enough if two couples wish to holiday together.

Wake to bird song and the occasional sheep bleat, drift off to an owl hoot or fox bark in the wood below. Amazing sunsets and some wonderful star lit skies. Guests are welcome to enjoy the farm and to meet the animals.

Lambing time is popular when guests, if they want, can watch a birth (lambing mid April to mid May). We have Clun Forest sheep and a composting business. Our working collie dog Scott loves to meet guests as do the farm cats and our horse, Magic. Large comfy 5' x 6'6" beds, table and chairs, under bed store, dresser, electric heater with extra sockets to charge phones, etc., and wood burning stove. We supply wood for the wood burning stoves and fire pits if required.

The kitchen has fridge, kettle, microwave, toaster, cooking rings, table and chairs. Clean drinking water and loads of hot water. North Buckham Farm is an ideal base for walking either from the farm or down on the coast, riding available closeby nearby or bring your own horse and enjoy the riding from the farm (one stable available, turn out for two).

Great location for photography, star gazing, painting, writing (start that novel now!) The coast is 20 minures away to West Bay harbour 35 minutes to Lyme Regis. Fossil hunting and fishing are both popular. Farmhouse kitchen breakfast available. Badger watching hide on the farm. Short walk from the hut, see www.beaminsterbadgers.co.uk Open April to October.

Additional Directions Information

From Bridport take A3066 through Melplash to Beaminster.  Drive through Beaminster staying on the A3066 as you leave town towards Crewkerne, you will drive up hill and eventually go through a road tunnel.  Immediately after the tunnel take the right turn signed Maiden Newton 9 miles.  Go up through the trees past South Buckham, we are the next left. See last two paragraphs to identify our driveway.

If approaching from the opposite direction from London, M3, A303. Leave the A303 on the Crewkerne exit A356.  Stay on A356 through Crewkerne.  After Misterton village take right turn onto the A3066 and go through Mosterton village.  After Mosterton stay on the A3066 and just before the road tunnel turn left, sign says Maiden Newton 9. Go up through trees past the entrance to South Buckham and we are next (second) entrance on your left.

From Dorchester via Maiden Newton.  After Maiden Newton stay on the A356 towards Crewkerne, you will pass a petrol station on your left.  Do not take next left signed to Beaminster (Evershot to your right) but after that turning just after the parking place is an unsigned offshoot to your left, take it!  There is a grass triangle at this junction.  You will go past a farm called Kitwhistle on your left and then come out at a staggered crossroads, go over crossroads and we are the fourth entrance on your right.

At the top of our driveway there is a bridleway sign to Mosterton pointing down and the telegraph poles come over the hill from Beaminster and down it.  When you look in the entrance there is our farm name on a large white and green sign and a reflective Farmstay sign on the first telegraph pole.

Our driveway is ½ mile long with a sharp left hand bend halfway down, the surface can be uneven in places please take it slowly.

Beware Sat Nav. Systems may send you to our neighbours drive 1 mile away (Axnoller Farm).   If no reply on the landline please try Andrew, my husband, on 07974 943411 and he can help you. TEL/FAX: 01308   863054        Email: trish@northbuckham.fsnet.co.uk
