Farm Stay appoints new Regional Director

Jul 10, 2009

Barbara Palmer takes the chair as Regional Director for Farm Stay UK

Award-winning farm accommodation group Farm Stay UK, is pleased to announce that long term member Barbara Palmer has been elected Regional Director for the Heart of England. Barbara replaces Deborah Lea who recently retired after nearly ten years service as Regional Director and Vice Chairperson for the group.

"I am delighted to have been elected Regional Director of Farm Stay Heart of England and I am looking forward to the challenges ahead. Farm Stay UK has achieved a great deal since it launched over 25 years ago and I hope to help continue the growth of the Heart of England group and Farm Stay UK over the coming seasons," commented Barbara.

Barbara and her husband Brian moved to Overwood in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire in 1995 and first offered bed & breakfast accommodation in 1997. Overwood has been a member of Farm Stay UK for over 10 years and the 1860's farm cottage, which has been converted from two farm labourer's cottages, is ideal for visitors who want to relax in luxurious bedrooms, enjoy delicious breakfast fresh from the farm and take in the breathtaking scenery.

Barbara continues, "I have lived in this area for many years and fully appreciate the wonderful sights, food and attractions that the Heart of England has to offer, from the Cotswold Hills to the famous Shakespearian town of Stratford Upon Avon. The link between farming, food and the landscape is becoming increasingly important to many people and we as a group will be exploring ways to maximise this interest whilst continuing to offer a real farm experience."

This year has already been incredibly busy for Farm Stay UK members in the Heart of England. Sandy Barker from Tiltridge Farm & Vineyard became a finalist in the Destination Worcestershire Welcome Awards 2009 and Barbara herself attended the Tenbury Food Festival to cook a full English breakfast in front of a hungry audience and members of the press.
