Star treatment that doesn’t cost the earth from Farm Stay UK

May 29, 2009

Award-winning farm accommodation organisation Farm Stay UK has smashed through the 80% barrier when it comes to offering visitors four and five star rated bed & breakfast and self-catering accommodation. All of Farm Stay UK's 1,100 members are inspected and Quality Assessed by national schemes operated by Britain's national tourist boards and the AA, completing rigorous inspections carried out by independent assessors.

Andy Woodward, Chief Executive of Farm Stay UK comments, "Gone are the days when farm holidays meant ‘roughing it' in a semi-converted barn; our members work incredibly hard to create stylish, luxurious accommodation for their guests and the fact that over 80% have been awarded either four or five stars is testament to this commitment and dedication."

Members from Farm Stay UK are also celebrating winning a number of awards during 2009, including: Silver Medals in the Access for All and Self-Catering categories at the Enjoy England Excellence Awards, presented to Elms Farm Cottages and Brackenborough Hall Coach House Holidays in Lincolnshire, and 45 Gold Awards in the newly created VisitBritain self-catering awards.

"From beautiful period cottages by the coast to modern converted pigsties with luxurious spas - our members really do have something to offer everyone, and it is great to have this recognized by national award schemes. Holidaying within the UK is set to rise, due to the current economic climate, and our members are ready to show their visitors what farm holidays are all about - beautiful locations, fabulous local food, fresh air and comfy beds - with the odd swimming pool and hot tub thrown in for good measure!" finished Andy.
