River Barn is one of the oldest buildings at Treworgey and dates back to the original Manor. It became our greatest conversion challenge yet: to maintain the great character of the building, whilst making it as environmentally friendly as possible.

The downstairs is under-floor heated and has local oak beams above. The entrance hall leads to a big, fully-equipped kitchen with an old pine dresser and a farmhouse table. There is a downstairs shower room and a spacious sitting room with a big elevated table, colourful wool rugs, antiques, leather sofas, arm chairs, freesat TV, DVD and hifi and a wide inglenook fireplace housing a glass-fronted wood burner

Upstairs the oak landing leads to three double bedrooms. Two bedrooms have bathrooms next-door with bath and separate shower. All bedrooms have antiques, wool rugs, oak beams, (including the magnificent pegged roof trusses) and oak floors. One bedroom has a king-size brass bed. The other two have zip-and-links, providing full flexibility for either twins or king-size doubles.

Both the cottage and the large, secluded suntrap garden, have fabulous views down the valley to the river below.

At least 200 years old and built of natural stone, Secret Garden enjoys spectacular views down the valley. The cottage is detached with a fantastic walled private garden, thought to be the original kitchen garden for the medieval Treworgey Manor.

Because there are no stairs (there are four steps up to the bedrooms), Secret Garden is a good choice for young children or the more infirm. The entrance hall leads to a family bathroom (bath and separate shower), sitting room and three bedrooms: one delightful children's room with single bed, one romantic double with king-size mahogany four-poster bed and shower room en-suite, and a spacious twin (or zipped together king-size bed) with wash-basin. All designed to give families flexibility.

The beamed sitting room has comfortable sofas, armchairs, freeview TV, DVD, hifi and a large inglenook fireplace with a glass fronted log burner. The fully-equipped Shaker-style kitchen with granite worktops leads through to the sunny, south-facing dining room with under-floor heating.  This lovely slate-hung Georgian farmhouse with sash windows sits in the centre of Treworgey Farm and has lovely views down the valley to the river below.

Enter into the front porch with stained-glass windows and mosaic-tiled floor, through to the flagstoned hall. To your left is the main sitting room with an enormous Inglenook fireplace, baby grand piano, comfortable arm chairs and sofas, antiques, a 46” TV, DVD, hifi and big sash windows.

To your right is a dining room with large table, antique marble fire place and bay window with French doors into the garden. Walk through the hall to the farmhouse kitchen with big table, antique pine dresser plus all the usual mod-cons including an electric Range cooker. Those who have an Aga at home will be thrilled to hear that there is also an Aga in the kitchen, available on request in advance. If you do not have an Aga at home, we strongly recommend using the electric Range cooker to avoid burnt offerings or under cooked meals! The Aga isn't adjustable!
