  • The open plan bedroom
  • The open plan bathroom - complete with 'cow' roll top bath!
  • The Mews
  • The 'Luv Tub'!
  • The lovely garden

This beautiful stone barn (called The Mews as a domesticated gos hawk used to live there) is a wonderful hide-away for couples. Offering an idyllic retreat from the stress of modern life, The Mews is situated in a peaceful rural location on our organic dairy farm, yet is only minutes from the glorious South Devon coast.

It has an open plan living/kitchen area, with all modern comforts, and an elegant spiral staircase leading up to an open plan bedroom/bathroom. Look out over green fields as you relax in the roll top 'cow' bath or step straight out of bed and through the patio doors to drink tea in the morning sunshine or enjoy a soak in the gorgeous private hot tub. There is a king sized bed upstairs, and a cot can be provided on request. If required, the settee downstairs converts to a single bed.

There is a wonderful wood hot tub (called the 'Luv Tub'!) in the garden, heated up by a woodburner, using fresh water - so no nasty chemicals. The small garden is totally private, with perhaps just the cows in the fields behind, with a patio table and BBQ for your use.

  • The beach hut

Our wonderful little beach hut is available to rent for 2 night weekend & mid-week breaks during the warmer months. Situated on our isolated, totally private cove, the beach hut offers the chance to really escape for a few days away from it all!

Wherelse can you enjoy your own private beach, totally isolated down a steep cliff path, with the most amazing views of the stunning South Devon coast and out to sea? Imagine lighting up the BBQ, cracking open a bottle of wine and just chilling out listening to the sounds of the waves crashing on the rocks...

The beach hut has a double bed that you climb up a ladder to get to, a large table with bench seats, double gas hob and a sink. The small kitchen area has all the pots, pans, crockery and cutlery that you need for your stay. There is running water, but no electricity - so there are a few solar powered lights (with some windup lanterns as back up) and a camping cool box for your food. The hut has a small woodburner inside, so if the evening turns chilly you will be still be toasty and warm indoors.

Outside there is a fantastic woodfired hot tub for you to relax in at the end of a hard day playing on the beach and swimming! Just fill it up with fresh water, light up the woodburner attached and keep it fed for a few hours and the hot tub will be ready for use... lovely! There is a compost toilet in the outside shed and an outside shower as well which is heated by the woodburner inside the Beach Hut.

Bed linen and hand towels are all provided (but please bring your own large beach towels), as well as tea-towels and environmentally friendly cleaning materials. There is also a supply of recycled paper toilet rolls, salt & pepper, cooking oil, Fair Trade organic tea, coffee, sugar and long life milk. Logs are provided in the outside store, but please do collect any driftwood to add to the pile!

Access to the Beach Hut is from Carswell Farm (where you can park your car) and then you have a 15 minute walk, including a steep path down to the cove. There is no access for vehicles, so you will need to carry everything you want in a rucksack and wear sturdy footwear.

We are offering an optional 'Devon Meal Hamper' which we will put in the beach hut for you if you don't want to worry about bringing the basics. This is enough for the first night and morning and includes milk, muesli, eggs, bread, butter, marmalade, a simple evening meal for 2 (meat and vegetarian options) and a bottle of wine. The cost is £45 - please contact us for more details. We also offer an organic BBQ box for £35.

Due to the remote location and difficult access, I'm afraid that single occupancy, children under 18 and dogs are not allowed.

We offer a set 2 night night stay from 3pm on a Friday/Monday, leaving at 4pm on the Sunday/Wednesday. There is an option to stay a 3rd night for and extra £100, leaving by 10am on the Monday/Thursday morning.

  • Crofters Cottage (sleeps 4)

Crofters Cottage is a very special little cottage in the most beautiful spot with no neighbours and lovely views out to sea. It is rustic and fairly basic but if you are looking for peace, tranquillity and a chance to escape from everyday life, then this is the cottage for you!

Crofters Cottage is a lovely old stone cottage with stunning views out to sea, recently used for shooting lunches and as a ‘overflow’ for family to stay in when the farmhouse was full. We have recently completed some renovation work (including a lovely spiral staircase, a woodburner and a hot tub), whilst still keeping the rustic charm and simplicity of the cottage.

There is no central heating but there is a woodburner downstairs and there are a couple of portable electric radiators. Downstairs is an open plan living and kitchen area, with a huge oak table separating the two areas and a lovely old slate floor. The kitchen area has all that you need for a comfortable stay, including a dishwasher, and there are chairs and a settee in the living area. Big double doors open up onto a terrace area where you can enjoy stunning views out to sea.

A spiral staircase winds up to the first floor, also open plan, which has a superking size bed, two single beds and an antique roll top bath! At one end of the room there are big double doors that open out allowing the sunshine to pour in and giving access to the garden area. There is a small private closet in the corner of the room with a toilet and basin.

Due to the remote location, there is no television or mobile phone signal – but we think this makes it perfect for a really relaxing break! (There is free WiFi though, so you can still stay in touch and watch TV through your iPad or laptop.) There is a great stereo system and you can play your music direct from your iPod or smartphone via bluetooth. For those of you with a more retro look on life, there is a also a record player and a selection of LPs to choose from!

Dogs welcome.
