Ashton has been farmed by the Edwards family since 1937 when Bill's family came as tenant farmers to the Berrington Hall Estate. In the 1970's Bill bought the farm from the Cawley's, giving up half his acreage. Bill & Pam decided to convert the farm buildings into accommodation for their son and daughter, and cater for holiday cottages. The land is let as grass keep for sheep.
East Cottage is converted from a half timbered granary and has been fully updated in 2010, with garages underneath, approached by a short flight of steps. Traditional country living in a relaxing, comfortable farmhouse environment sleeping approx 5 people.
