We offer comfortable home from home living in our 250 year old stone-built cottages in the countryside on an historic rural Estate. The cottages are converted former workers homes such as the Maid's House and Butlers and sleep from 2 - 7 or you can choose several together for a family gathering. Located in the Clyde Valley we are an hour from Glasgow and Edinburgh and provide a good touring base for visitng central southern Scotland and the Borders. We are a working farm and produce our own local and fresh venison, beef and lamb with no food miles for sale in our farm shop.
This delightful house boasts spectacular views of Tinto Hill and the surrounding landscape with an outside wooden deck to enjoy the full splendour of the countryside. Built around 1900 from the "new" red brick the gardener occupied the house before the 2nd world war. Sleeps 5 people with a king size and twin bedroom upstairs, double bedroom downstairs, bathroom and WC. Kitchen/dining room and lounge. Oil central heating. 3 star STB graded.
Half of the old Victorian laundry building has now been converted to a lovely 2 bedroom cottage sleeping 4. Fully tiled bathroom with shower over bath. Fitted kitchen. Lounge/dining with open log fire
Situated close to the old mansion house ruins and tennis court in the centre of the Estate.
Maid's House adjoins Laundry Cottage and is the half of the building where the maids used to work. It has been converted into a charming 2 storey cottage for 4 with a king size bedroom and twin bedroom upstairs. Downstairs is a tiled bathroom with shower over bath, fully fitted kitchen and spacious dining room/lounge. It has oil central heating and is 4 star graded by Visitscotland.
West Twin Cottage sits high in the centre of the Estate. It has 3 single bedrooms upstairs and a double bedroom, bathroom with WC and bath, shower room, fitted kitchen and living/dining room downstairs. It is near to the ruins of the old mansion house and to the tennis court. Our deerpark is next to the cottage and deer can regularly be observed grazing close by. It is graded 3 star by Visitscotland.
South Lodge lies on the Estate boundary and has panoramic views of Tinto Hill. It has a double and a twin bedroom plus fully tiled bathroom with shower and bath. There is an open plan living/dining/kitchen with an open fire. It is on one level and is cosy, secluded and compact. Graded 3 star by Visitscotland.
In the centre of the Estate, this cottage was formerly the Butler's cottage for the now ruined Carmichael mansion house. Accommodation is on one level and comprises of a double and a queen sized bedroom, suitable for 3/4 occupants. It has a bathroom with bath and shower and a small kitchen/dining room, lounge and hall. It is 3 star graded by Visitscotland.
Gardens Cottage is completely secluded beside a stream at the foot of Tinto Hill and close to the Eastend walled garden. It is an attractive whitewashed stone cottage with peace guaranteed, being over a mile from the public road.
Accommodation comprises a double and a twin bedroom upstairs and a bathroom with shower over bath downstairs. It has a large dining/kitchen room with antique display stove and modern fittings, freezer, dishwasher and microwave. There is a large lounge with a log fireplace.
Pond Cottage is a delightful cosy secluded cottage situated close to a small fishing lochan at Eastend. It has a king size bedroom and fully tiled bathroom with shower over bath en-suite. It has an open plan living/dining/kitchen with a log fire. It is a popular romantic honeymoon location, graded 3 star by Visitscotland
This stone cottage sits high in the centre of the Estate. It has a double, twin and single room upstairs. Downstairs there is a superb fully tiled bathroom with shower, a fully fitted kitchen and a large living/dining room.
East Twin is close to the tennis court and old mansion house ruins and adjacent to the deer park. It offers lovely walks form the doorstep. It is graded 3 star by Visitscotland.
Eagle Lodge is situated at the main entrance to the Estate, convenient for the bus route and adjacent to the A73. This stone cottage was built in 1890 and has an enclosed garden.
Accommodation is on one level and comprises a double and a twin bedroom, a lounge/dining room, bathroom with bath and a separate shower room and small compact kitchen. It is graded 3 star by Visitscotland
Warrenhill Apartment is a second floor flat situated at the Carmichael Visitor Centre. It has lovely views of the surrounding countryside and of Tinto Hill from the large open plan living/dining/kitchen area. It has a fully tiled bathroom with bath and shower and sleeps 5 in a double bedroom and a bedroom with a double and a single bed. Also on site is a tearoom serving breakfast and food all day and Carmichael Farm shop selling home produced venison, beef and lamb as well as other local produce and Carmichael tartan goods.
Dovecot Cottage adjoins Westmains House and Office. It sits beside the old stone dovecot and has views of Tinto Hill and over the surrounding garden and fields.

This 250 year old cosy stone cottage was formerly one of a pair of gate cottages on the old main road. It offers spectacular views of the surrounding countryside and Tinto Hill.
Accommodation comprises 1 bedroom with double bed and en-suite shower room and compact kitchen with hatch through to dining/living room, small WC.
Arrival by car: Reception is at the Carmichael Visitor Centre situated on the A73 halfway between Lanark and Biggar. From south exit M74 at junction 13. Follow A73 for 8 miles towards Lanark. Signpost Carmichael 2 1/4, DO NOT FOLOW. 100m past junction on left is reception at Carmichael Visitor Centre. Huge car park, wind turbine, signposted Carmichael Country Cottages. From the north exit M74 at junction 11. Turn left onto the A70 direction Lanark and continue for 5 miles. At the Hyndford Bridge continue straight ahead on the A73. Carmichael Visitor Centre is a further 3 miles on the right-hand side.
