Skylark Cottage

Skylark Cottage is situated in glorious Northumbrian countryside, only 5 miles from Berwick-upon-Tweed.  We are a small family-run organic arable farm.  You may find lambs with ewes, a couple of visiting pigs, a tractor furiously cultivating or simply miniature donkeys tormenting Molly our horse.  Thornton is 8 miles to some spectacular beaches, 10 miles to Holy Island and 16 miles to Northumberland National Park.  Our nearest pub is a 5 minute drive.

Skylark Cottage has two double bedrooms and one twin.  All have good sized chest of drawers and the double rooms have hanging space.  The duvets are good quality and high tog.  The bedlinen and towels are included in the price and laundered on site.  Please note a travel cot can be provided free of charge.

The living area has two large comfy sofas and a 32" TV with freeview and DVD player.  You can cosy in front of the log burner which comes complete with kindling, coal and log basket.  Extra logs can be purchased from us at a small price.  For entertainment there are boardgames and lots of books to give you inspiration of what to do whilest in the area.

The dining area is located in the sitting room and comfortably seats six people.  A highchair is available.  The kitchen is fully equipped and has lots of cupboard space.  With Royal Doulton crockery, good quality pans and even mixing bowls.  A fridge with ice box and dishwasher are there for your convenience.  The washing machine and tumble dryer are in the utility room.  

The bathroom has an electric overhead shower and good sized bath.  

There is oil fired central heating throughout and all electricity and oil is included in the rental price.

The garden is a mix of lawn and fruit trees.  It is private and looks out to open fields.  The view is lovely and your only visitors are the horses or miniature donkeys.  A play area with double swing and climbing frame is in a small field to the side of the cottage.  Guests have free use of the play equipment.   A garage houses the barbeque and you can also park your car under cover.  There is parking available for 3 cars. 

Pets are more than welcome and free of charge.  A water bowl is provided, along with a map of the Farm.  We have some great walks around our fields where you can spot deer, corn buntings, skylarks and a whole host of wildlife.  

Skylark Cottage recently became accredited with the Hearing 1 from the National Accessible Scheme.  We are able to provide subtitles, good lighting, neon light smoke alarms and lots of information about local events, attractions and information about the cottage.  Laura Smales holds the BSL NVQ Level 3 in Sign Language.
