Foxtwood – relaxing, stunning location, space to play, plenty to do, wealth of nature, fabulous walks, steam trains, fishing, log fires, good pubs and restaurants. Comfortable, warm, clean cottages.

Foxtwood Cottages are to be found in the Churnet Valley, part of the beautiful Staffordshire Peak District. This luscious area is just waiting to be explored. With a labyrinth of footpaths you can criss-cross the valley through traditional meadows and woodlands, enjoy a pub lunch or have afternoon tea in some stunning locations.

Our cottages offer a warm and comfortable retreat from your hectic daily life, with idyllic views from all the windows. Explore our lake and grounds where you can be at one with nature. Children love the space we offer in which to play and frolic. Evenings can be spent with loved ones in front of a cosy log fire or you could sample some of the traditional public houses in our local villages.

We love our local environment with its wealth of things to offer, from the local heritage steam railway, outdoor activities, museums and numerous visitor attractions, but best of all is the natural beauty of the area.

We also love to look after our environment, and are proud to have achieved the Staffordshire Environmental Quality Mark. During your stay we welcome and encourage you to join us in all aspects of this by using local produce shops, restaurants, and pubs. Start your walks from the door (this is very easy and they’re the best!). We actively recycle and have tried to make it easy for you to do too, or we’ll even do it for you.

    Bottom Cottage
  • image description
    Sleeps 4
  • £420 - £647 per week

Bottom Cottage is so named for more than one reason. It is at the far end of the building and it is the lower of two apartments, but also it is in acknowledgement of Bottom’s Brick Works that stood on this site a century ago.

This is a cosy, warm cottage with underfloor heating and a log burning stove. The double doors in the sitting room open into the garden and overlooking the canal. It has an airy freshness from the surrounding woodland. The two bedrooms offer a king-size with en-suite and a twin. Both have TV/dvds so you can relax and watch a film in bed. The family bathroom has both a bath and a level-entry shower.

I have to confess of all the kitchens in our cottages this is my favourite, I even fancy cooking in there!

For anyone with mobility problems this cottage has no steps, either inside or to the entrance, parking is close to the door with a very gently graded slope to the doors. The main bathroom has fold down arms for the toilet with transfer space alongside, the bath and shower have grab rail for stability.

Bottom Cottage and Seventh Heaven have an internal, interlinking, lockable door so both cottages can be booked together for larger groups.

    Sleeps 4
  • £420 - £647 per week

This elegant, spacious cottage is an upstairs apartment with delightful views all round and can be interlinked with Bottom Cottage for larger groups.

The living space has three distinct areas: the sitting area has two settees and a log burning stove; off to one side through an archway is a sun room with seating; on the other side the dining area has a table to sit four to six or extends to sit ten. Off this, a fully fitted and equipped kitchen is discretely screened from the sitting area.

You can enjoy an en-suite bedroom with a king-size bed. The second bedroom has twin beds. Both bedrooms have TV/DVDs. There is a spacious main bathroom with bath and separate large shower.

    Sleeps 5
  • £410 - £665 per week

Archway sleeps 5 in three bedrooms, a king size with an en-suite, a twin bedded room and a smaller room with a single bed. The main bathroom is a generous room with both a shower and bath.

The main living area is all open plan - so no one gets stuck in the kitchen doing the cooking! The garden opens straight off this area so it is easy to take your dinner outside and enjoy sitting out with the birds to enjoy your dining.

Archway while comfortable sleeping five has also been designed for the wheelchair user or less-able in mind. It is all on the ground floor with ramped entry, wider than standard doorways and enough space to move about easily. The kitchen is set out so it can be used from a wheelchair while still being suitable for able bodied. The dining table has a cut away side so wheelchair arms will fit.

The bathroom is also fitted out for maximum ease of use, with fold down arms around the toilet and grip rails above the bath, the shower has a fold down seat and is flush-entry ( no tray).

Both the garden and the courtyard are level, one car may be parked at the end of the building just a few yards from the door if required.

If you have any special requirements or would like more information please ask and we will be happy to try and help.

    Sleeps 9
  • £580 - £1071 per week

This cottage sleeps 9, and is great for family groups. With balconies front and back enjoying stunning views over the lake and canal. There are several areas in our grounds where you can take a picnic or have a barbecue. The yard is a wonderful area for children to play on scooters or trikes, etc. We also have swing balls that are very popular!

As you can see from the location marked in the photo above, the cottage is in the centre of the building, so a little consideration towards your neighbours may be needed later on in the evenings. We prefer to have family groups staying here and might refuse bookings from groups with more than 6 adults, so please don't be offended if we ask about the composition of your group.

The accommodation comprises

Central main open-plan living area, with dining table to seat 10.

Well equipped kitchen.

Two separate bedroom areas off either side of living room.

Left wing; double bedroom with en-suite, twin bedroom, single bedroom, main bathroom with both bath and shower.

Right wing; double bedroom, a bedroom with full single size bunk beds, shower room.
