Yet we are no more than three hours motorway driving from the major cities of England (UK). And there is plenty to do within easy reach - the lovely Georgian town of Ludlow with its world class restaurants, festival and antiques, Hay-on-Wye, the town of books, West Midlands Safari Park, the Severn Valley Railway, Eastnor Castle and much more. 

Queen Victoria spoke affectionately of nearby Tenbury as "my little town in the orchard". This northern pocket of Worcestershire still overflows with hops and cider apple trees. Stealing its name from the backdrop of ancient undisturbed woodland, the cottages and their surrounds make a natural family home – for both frazzled humans and local badgers. Winding your way up the track to this converted stable, you catch glorious glimpses of the Teme and Kyre valleys; on arrival, you're greeted by neighbour and owner, cheerful, thoughtful Ellie.  Lucky children have seven acres to romp in, and a secret treehouse complete with hammocks and barbecue for midnight feasts. Resting on the borders of three counties, this is prime walking country, while bustling Ledbury and Ludlow, England's slow food capital, are just a drive away
