There are plenty of dog friendly pubs in or near Tideswell and slightly further out there is the lovely village of Litton and The Red Lion, which allows dogs in the front area of the bar. It is situated on a lovely village green, so you can sit outside in summer months. And if you are visiting at a weekend a trip to the Three Stags Head just outside Tideswell in nearby Wardlow Mires is a must. A pub since 1860, it is as quirky as it is old. Ramblers love this real pub, only open Friday night to Sunday, where happy Lurchers warm themselves by the open fire in the tiny flagged bar and home-made food is served on rustic plates (made on site in a pottery workshop). Serving hand-pulled beers and ales, and often having local folk music, there are absolutely no frills, but it will always provide a warm and friendly welcome.

There is a lovely walking route in Tideswell Dale. You should be able to have your dog off the lead on this gentle stroll which follows a stream. You can also walk from here down into Millers Dale – where you can find the dog friendly Angler’s Rest situated next to the river. Here there is a room dedicated to muddy boots and dogs, if you are an animal lover then you will love this quaint old pub, set in a truly wonderful setting.

Dogs are permitted in the garden, parkland, maze, waterworks, and sculpture areas but must be kept on a lead, particularly in the park because of free range livestock. Dogs are not allowed in the house or farmyard and adventure playground, but there are posts to tie dogs up for a short time outside the farmyard.
