Stretching 73 miles from sea to sea, Hadrian’s Wall is a UNESCO World Heritage Site which has numerous trails, frontier history and re-enactments to enhance the experience. Carlisle Castle is another site in Cumbria with a rich history, the Castle is over 900 years old and has been besieged 10 times, more than any other Castle in the UK.

If the weather is being uncooperative there is still much to do in Cumbria. The Abbot Hall Art Gallery is an art gallery in a grade II listed villa, boasting a fine collection of 16th, 17th and 18th Century art work. Alternatively the Lakeland Motor Museum is another place to visit in inclement weather. The museum contains approximately 30,000 exhibits, including a variety of motorbikes, scooters and motorcars and traces the history of the car throughout the ages.
