Dog Friendly Self Catering Holiday Cottages in Devon

Whether you’re part of a family, couple or on your own, trying to find dog friendly self catering holiday cottages  for a short break or holiday can be tricky as many types of accommodation – not just hotels – simply don’t allow pets. But Farm Stay Devon can help you locate the ideal  holiday cottage in Devon, where both you and your four-legged friend will receive a warm welcome.

Our wide range of cottages, farmhouses and converted barns located on real farms or rural locations and dotted throughout the county provide a level of independence and freedom that you won’t get staying in a hotel. In fact, many of our Devon cottages positively welcome guests’ pets – providing private gardens or farmland and sharing their local knowledge with you, including the best dog friendly pubs!

Of course, taking your dog on holiday means that you’ll want easy access to some great walks – whether you prefer leisurely strolls or something a bit more active. Often you’ll be able to walk on the farm where you’re staying or you can venture further afield into the delightful Devon countryside. From the scenic footpaths of the north and south coast; the open moorland of Exmoor and Dartmoor to miles of dog friendly beaches - you truly are spoilt for choice in this wonderful dog walking county.

Lots of the fabulous beaches, that Devon is famous for, allow access for dogs all year round. (Some have some restrictions April –September so best to double check before you book.) Some of our favourites include Ness Cove Beach at Shaldon (accessible through an original smugglers tunnel!), Soar Mill Cove (a sandy beach tucked away under the cliffs, with rock pools to explore, accessible from the South West Coast Path), the picturesque Linton and Lynmouth with the cliff railway (dogs welcome), and Saunton Sands - 3 1/2miles of golden sands and dunes – perfect for chasing a ball or stick!
Many attractions also welcome dogs. Arlington Court is a fabulous National Trust property with over 20 miles of footpaths to explore, including a popular lake walk and gardens. There is even an annual dog show hosted here.

You and your dog are also allowed on the Seaton Tramway, which operates heritage trams between Seaton and Colyton in East Devon's glorious Axe Valley, travelling alongside the River Axe estuary through two nature reserves.

Lydford Gorge is another attraction suitable for your canine companion – famed for its wildlife and stunning geological wonders.

Other fantastic places for you to explore include trails along the coast and across Exmoor and Dartmoor National Parks.

Farm Stay removes all the hassle normally associated with finding dog friendly cottages or B&B's for people with pets. So why not give yourself a break – and your dog a treat – by discovering all that Devon has to offer?
