A walk on Cleeve hill, the highest point in Gloucestershire, enjoys views of Cheltenham racecourse, the Severn Vale and on a very clear day Exmoor in Somerset/N Devon can be seen. Alternatively follow the Sculpture Trail in the Forest of Dean with miles of forest trails to explore.
For a more architectural woodland experience, how about the 56 acre Batsford Arboretum has one of the largest collections of private trees in the country. Open all year round it is another great Gloucestershire attraction suitable for dogs.There is plenty to explore here, as well as the  fabulous walks amongst the trees - the Plant Centre, a Terrace Cafe, and a Gift and Garden Shop,  within the walls of the Victorian kitchen garden and all allowing your dog, as long as kept on a lead.
