The Dales are visually stunning, providing some breath-taking scenery which can be seen from any one of the numerous walking routes which criss-cross the area.   Nidderdale  is an intriguing and beautiful area, with dry-stone walls and lush meadows as a backdrop to the stunning scenery, its setting draws visitors who visit its craft centres, fine village pubs and country tearooms.

How Stean Gorge in Upper Nidderdale is known as ‘Yorkshire’s Little Switzerland’ and is very much part of Nidderdale’s spectacular scenery, with a dramatic limestone cleft, 80 feet deep in places.

If you want a challenging walk (with help from your dog),  you will be rewarded with superb views from the top of Pen-Y-Ghent , part of the "Yorkshire 3 Peaks", which  also incorporates Whernside (Highest point of North Yorkshire) and Ingleborough.

A lot closer to the sea, Bempton Cliffs , are incredible towering chalk cliffs, home to 250,000 seabirds that nest there. Accessible for dogs as long as they are kept on a lead, these cliffs are a great chance to see a fascinating natural spectacle as well as enjoy fantastic views. Also offering panoramic views is Whitby beach- regularly voted Britain’s best beach. This beach is a vast expanse of sand and is definitely dog friendly with many cafes along the beach-front welcoming dogs in.
