Our aim is to blend modern knowledge with sustainable farming methods using local breeds that are suited to the area. The farm has been in our family for three generations. Devon cattle and Exmoor horn sheep have been bred here in an unbroken line for well over a century, so we are keen to conserve this living link with the past and hand it on to future generations. These local breeds are ideally suited to our traditional style of farming, as they were developed in this area to cope with its challenging environment.
We also keep Exmoor ponies – another iconic Exmoor breed.
This is our home as well as our business. The welfare of our animals and conservation of our beautiful farm are very important to us. The farmhouse is supplied with renewable electricity from a wind turbine, plus roof-mounted solar panels, and is heated by a biomass boiler that burns wood from our hedges and trees. The land is under a Higher Level Stewardship agreement, which helps us to conserve a variety of wildlife and historical features.

Our guided farm tours are in a purpose-built trailer with cushioned seats and a weatherproof canopy, pulled by the farm tractor. You will be transported along tracks and over fields not usually accessible to the public. Each tour takes about 1 1/2 hours.
It gives us tremendous pleasure to show visitors around the farm and see animals grazing in the fields. An added bonus is the beautiful, ever-changing scenery, with rolling hills and moorland to the south and the Bristol Channel to the north. Depending on the season, a variety of wildlife can usually be seen, too, from red deer to butterflies.
