There are many places to visit in this beautiful area of Derbyshire. Guests visiting this area for the first time are amazed how much there is to see and do. Walking in the Dales and Peaks, cycling on Tissington Trail (cycle hire available in Ashbourne and Waterhouses), riding the restored railways of the Churnet Valley or Ecclesbourne or a trip to Crich Tramway Museum. Numerous National Trust Houses, Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Sudbury Museum of Childhood, Hardwick Hall home of good Queen Bess, Kedleston Hall, Calke Abbey with its eccentricities,  and are all in fabulous parkland for wonderful picnics. Market towns of Bakewell of the 'pudding fame', Buxton (many National theatre productions), Leek, Uttoxeter, Matlock, Wirksworth and of course, Ashbourne, are all fascinating with antiquities, architecture, tea/coffee/pudding shops and restaurants. The Potteries are approx a half hour drive away.

Lake fishing is close by, less than 1 mile, another very scenic one (who also provide bacon butty and tea/coffee) about 4 miles away and the nearest golf course is approx 2 miles. Cycles can be stored on our farm.

We are a working arable and sheep farm with 300 acres of cereals, mostly oats, grown for Jordans breakfast cereal bars and muesli and have a flock of  Zwartbles sheep, a Dutch Breed, who graze the ancient ridge and furrow meadows and grassland. We are Red Tractor Certified and LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming) farmers and provide wildlife corridors, wild bird, pollen and nectar plots, skylark plots, fallow plots for nesting lapwings, hay meadows for curlews, barn owl boxes and tree sparrow boxes to encourage these target species to this area.
