Grimston House was built in the 1930's by the owner of 3 local farms as his private residence and is now a traditional b&b 4 miles south of York centre
Grimston House is ideally placed on the south side of York for York University, York Racecourse, Elvington Air Museum and Airfield and the designer outlet park and ride also good stopping point if you are travelling a long distance. There is a regular Arriva 415 bus route between York and Selby if you want to leave the car.
Situated within an acre of mature gardens on the A19 at Deighton you can enjoy a comfortable stay with spacious rooms and safe parking and a cooked breakfast included in your stay. The double en-suite bedrooms and one with a private bathroom all have flat screen TV and hospitality trays with hot and cold drinks and homemade cookies and snacks. There is a fridge on the landing and in some rooms for fresh milk and cold drinks. The spacious dining room where breakfast and weekday suppers are served overlooks the gardens with morning sunshine and there is a large guest lounge with log fire in winter where you can relax and read a book.
Looking for somewhere to eat? - The White Swan pub is a short walk away and in Escrick half a mile away there is the Sang Thai restaurant, The Parsonage and The Fat Abbott gastro pub. We can arrange snacks and pre-booked meals during the week if you prefer not to go out.
Arriving by cycle or motorbike? - the Sustrans 65 is about half a mile away and the famous Squires cafe is 10 miles. We have safe parking for bikes and motorbikes set back from the road. We can arrange washing and drying facilities.
Grimston House has been a home for disabled children and doctors surgery before becoming a bed and breakfast run for many years by Pat and Alan Wright. We wish Pat and Alan a very happy and well earned retirement.
Grimston House is conveniently located to enjoy the magnificence of York and it's glorious Minster. A city full of history with fascinating streets and a plethora of shops, museums and galleries. The river Ouse winds its way through the city and many visitors find a boat trip provides them with a different view of this splendid city. You can go fishing, enjoy horse riding and play golf all within a few miles and the Sustrans 65 cycle way is within a mile away. There are also some delightful walks in the countryside and we are a good base for those who wish to explore the North Yorkshire Moors, Coast and Dales . MacArthur Glen Designer shopping outlet is two miles away next to the Park and Ride.
