Working beef and sheep farm with rare breeds of poultry, baby lambs, pigs, goats and donkeys.  Participants welcome. Also ride-on tractors for young children with  swings and slides and a football pitch. Only 20 minutes drive to Chester. 

Our self catering cottages are located in a little valley overlooking the picturesque Cheshire village of Malpas. We enjoy stunning views across the countryside in Cheshire, Wales, Shropshire and Staffordshire, and a clear day invites miles and miles of fantastic, uncluttered scenery.

Although the hustle and bustle of everyday life can seem a world away, we are only 20 minutes from the historic city of Chester and all that it offers in the way of sightseeing and shopping or a lively, energetic day out in the shape of the world famous Chester Zoo. Both Liverpool and Manchester lie just beyond that, less than an hour away.

The Miller’s House is a deceptively large, three-bedroom property that has it all.  Fantastic social space with a spacious kitchen/dining/living room with a focal point of a log burner.  Dine out on the patio overlooking only fields, stay out till dark and you can see the stars as we have little light pollution.

The master bedroom not only has an en-suite but also French doors leading out onto the garden.  There is also a cute twin bedroom and a very stylish double bedroom with a large family bathroom.  Sleeping up to 6, for families wanting to escape to the country, then this is an ideal destination.

Full central heating, plus a log burning stove which is really cosy on winter evenings.

Farmhouse Wing is a completely self-contained part of the old farmhouse that has been modernised throughout.

With its oak beams, inglenook fireplace and 17th Century charm, this cottage really steals the show for character.

Two large double en-suite bedrooms with king-size beds, which catch the morning light, make this property an ideal destination for families or couples holidaying together.  An extra single bed is available for your use.  Sit back in the large living/dining room and cosy up in front of the log burner.  This house is a slice of English history with all the modern-day comforts.

The Drovers Barn is a beautiful stylish two-storey cottage.  It is designed to appeal to families as it has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.

It has a large kitchen/diner with TV and sofa for a real family space.  The Master bedroom is on the ground floor with en-suite and the other bedrooms are on the first floor directly off the lounge, which also boasts a balcony for alfresco drinks.

The balcony is also a great vantage point to watch farm life and enjoy the views.   Just add a G&T or a cold beer.  The cottage has underfloor heating throughout and has a very low carbon footprint as we generate the electricity for heating/lighting/cooking from our solar system.

The Carter’s Lodge is an annexe onto this cottage which can sleep 2 people and therefore can be used for extra people visiting the Drovers Barn or large group bookings. There is no adjoining door between these 2 cottages.

Two double bedrooms and one triple bedroom.

2 bathrooms, one ensuite shower and one with bath.

Raised Balcony/Deck area for alfresco dining.

2  TV’s with DVD players.

Again this is a low carbon house supplied with electric from the farm.  Outside there is  a garden and seating area where you can enjoy breakfast by the apple blossom in the spring.

This property is ideal for 2 people or for additional space for larger families that are staying in Drover’s Barn. Please note, there is no connecting door to the Drovers Barn.

It is also suitable for wheelchair access and guests with mobility problems.

Pets are welcome by arrangement in this property.

Recently refurbished with a new kitchen and flooring, this property has a small twin bedroom and large double bedroom with king-sized bed and en-suite bathroom. There is also a shower room available.   Ideally suited for couples or small families, it has large French doors off the living room, giving lots of light and view of the bird table and fields beyond.  This is truly a tranquil and comfortable escape destination.

Additional Directions Information

Car arrival: Take the A41 north from Whitchurch heading towards Chester. After five miles turn left at the sign for No Mans Heath. After a quarter of a mile turn left at first mini roundabout, then proceed for another quarter of a mile carrying straight on at the "no through road" sign, as the road finishes the farm sign and directions are in front of you.
