History of Wheatley Farm Once part of the estate owned by the Duke of Bedford, the farmhouse and farm buildings were built by him in 1871. The Griffin family have farmed at Wheatley since 1890, and their son will be the fifth generation. Many changes have taken place in the farming scene in that time, from horse to tractor to today's computer controlled feeding systems. The farm is now run as a dairy unit, and the herd of Holstein Friesian cows are milked every day at five in the morning and four in the afternoon, even on Christmas Day!
