Beautiful location on the fells, ideal for walking and cycling holidays. There is boating on nearby Coniston Water, either hire your own boat or sail on the Gondola a Victorian steamboat. Take a trip on a steam railway or visit a historic house or gar.den or Beatrix Potters house or take the children to the world of Beatrix Potter, the Lakeside Aquarium or Grizedale Forest. Short breaks available in winter, spring and autumn starting Saturday or Tuesday.

A two bedroom cottage on a Lake District sheep farm on the fells between Coniston Water and the Duddon Estuary with  many footpaths and bridleways around the farm for walking and cycling.  There are a double bedroom and a twin bedroom upstairs and a bathroom with bath with shower over and a living room/dining area/kitchen downstairs. There is electric heating with electric woodburner and panel heaters in the bedrooms and underfloor heating in the bathroom.  The kitchen has an electric cooker, fridge, small freezer, microwave and dishwasher, and the laundry room has a washing machine and tumble dryer.

From Junction 36 on M6 take the A590 signposted  Barrow. After 20mls take the second exit at Greenodd roundabout onto A5092.  Half a mile west of Gawthwaite on top of hill turn for Woodland (place name) over the cattle grid,. After 1.7 miles  turn right and fork immediately left to Birchbank
