Forget city stress, theme-park hype or luggage lost in airports. Here at Puddleduck Valley in a beautiful pocket of Devon, we’ve got everything you need for a relaxing, fun and truly memorable country holiday. Feed and pet the anmials, collect the chicken eggs, play in the meadows & woods, make clay faces and lots more. We offer changeover on Fridays and Mondays to allow for 7 night, 3 night and 4 night stays.

We've been awarded a gold award 3 years running by Green tourism & winners of the coveted Tripadvisor certificate of excellence for 2016 & 2017.

  • 1. FREE Help feed the animals every morning

    Help us in the morning while we feed all the animals and put some out to pasture. Learn all about the animals and pet some of them too. It normally takes us around an hour from 09:00

  • 2. FREE Animal petting - guinea pigs, goats, rabbits,cats, dogs & chickens!
  • 4. FREE Indoor Treasure Hunts

    The Stables & the Appleloft Suite both have indoor treasure hunts. Find the duck footprints and win a prize.

  • 6. FREE Wildflower Treasure Hunt

    We've created our own wild flower treasure hunt. Use our home made cards, find the flowers and learn something new.

  • 3. FREE Make clay faces on the trees

    Down in the valley we dig out some of the blue clay from our ditches to keep them clear. We use this high quality clay for making faces on the trees. The adults like it more than the children!

  • 5. FREE Painting & Drawing

    Now iwth a dedicated art and craft room. In the old dresser are paper, paints, colouring pencils and felt tips. We've seen some superb creations from painted stones and faces to some beautiful paintings.

  • 9. FREE Dressing Up Box

    One for the under 8s. We have a dressing up box full of costumes for the little ones.

  • 8. FREE Bird spotting

    Borrow our binoculars and go on a twitcher's hunt. We have a wide range of birds on site from Buzzards to Blue tits and Tree Creepers to Thrushes.

  • 7. Campfires, Sausages & Toasted Marshmallows - At Cost

    At least once a week if the weather is kind we have a camp fire where children get to cook sausages over the fire and toast marshmallows. A firm favourite with all the children (especially as they get to stay up late!). Charge at cost.

The original stone barn used for stabling horses, the Stables is our newly converted plush holiday cottage. With a private enclosed garden, overhanging Ash trees and private parking 10 metres from the cottage, the Stables is a dream stay holiday let.

The Stables consists of a lounge / dining room, a fully fitted and equipped kitchen, a small children's room with triple bunk beds, a double room with king size bed and bathroom. 

Snuggle up in the lounge or take a stroll in the wooded valley by the ponds with the children. We have a small children's play area within sight of the Stables so you can keep an eye on your little ones if they are feeling more energetic than you! The Stables also has a BBQ area in thefully enclosed garden with picnic bench and seating for the whole family.

Dating back to the 1650s, the Apple Loft Suite is awash with period features with oak beams and massively thick cob walls. There's a huge bedroom with a super king bed, a separate lounge, kitchen and bathroom. The double bedroom can be optionally refitted as a twin or with an additional two single beds (or cot) as you require. The lounge has a double sofa bed. The apple loft can sleep a family of 5 with the children either on the sofa bed or on z beds in the bedrom.

Located on the first floor of the main house, the Appleloft suite has private access via outdoor steps and has its own kitchen (fully equipped with an Aga cooker, microwave, fridge, pans, crockery and cutlery) and bathroom. The Appleloft suite also has its own lounge / dining room. Guests aslo have use of  a communal indoor dining area in our conservatory if you prefer not to use the dining facilities in the suite. The Apple Loft suite has a dedicated space only 20m from the accommodation.

The Appleloft suite has the best views over the gardens & the wooded valley.

Additional Directions Information

 From the A30 leave at the junction signposted for Bude & Holsworthy. Turn right onto the A386 and follow until you reach a mini roundabout. Turn left at the roundabout onto the A3079. Follow the A3079 for around 12 miles to a T junction with the A3072 at Brandis Corner. Turn right onto the A3072 and turn left after the Bickford Arms pub towards Cookbury. Take the next left and another left following the signs to Cookbury. Follow the road down and over a weak bridge. The road starts to climb a hill towards the church. The entrance to Puddleduck Valley is on your left (A steep driveway).
