Fantastic well equipped welcoming holiday cottages on a working farm in the village of Killinghall, just outside Harrogate and with very easy access to Harrogate, the conference centre and lots of tourist atttractions.

Cowslip cottage sleeps 5 with 2 single occasional beds if required and Humblebee cottage sleeps 5 -6 with a downstairs bedroom and adjoining wetroom. Both cottages are full of character, have everything you will need for a short stay or a long holiday. Toys and games, highchairs and cots all provided free of charge, there is plenty to do on a rainy day.

Great mobile reception and free wifi. Our guests always comment on the comfy beds, beautiful sunrises and being in the perfect rural location but with easy access to Harrogate including takeaway deliveries, taxis and a super regular bus service from the end of the lane. We are on a public footpath but we also provide details of walks locally and further away for day trips. Ripley village which is definitely worth an explore is a 30 minute walk accross the fields and you will find Ripley Castle, the lovely gift shops and of course the world famous Ripley Icecream!

The train station in Harrogate makes for easy journeys to and from Edinburgh and London. Harrogate is just a 30-40 minute walk from the farm or 5 minutes by car or bus, where you will find lots of shops, restaurants and the beautiful valley gardens which are open all year round and are free of charge.

The beautiful market town of Knaresborough is just a 10 minute drive away on lovely country roads passing Nidd and Nidd Hall on route. There are lots of unique independent shops, lovely cafe's, restaurants and boating on the river. The market is held on a Wednesday and lots of lovely local produce can be found there. We can advise confidently on Knaresborough as our cookshop was there for 10 years before we moved it to the farm.

Ripon is just 20 minutes away which is another market town, the market being on a Thursday there. Just a couple of minutes past there is the Lightwater Valley Theme Park with rides and attractions for all the family. York is a 45 minute drive away (or you can travel by train or bus). Pateley Bridge is just a short drive and is well worth a visit for the amazing Pancake house and fabulous butchers shops and lovely walks. We provide lots of tourist information in the cottages and are very happy to advise on places to see and do while you are here and also very happy to show you around the farm and meet some of our lovely cows and calves.

If you are lucky you may get to see some calves born recently or even during your stay. You can order homemade scones and cakes using local ingredients (or homegrown where possible) Local produce is available to pre-order as well as readymeals and anything you can imagine from our fabulous local butchers shop delivered to your door from pork pies to burgers for a bbq or a roast chicken for your Sunday roast!  We are always happy to make guests one of our famous milkshakes served in glass wellies!!

Please contact us if you have ANY questions and we will do our best to help.

Cowslip was our first holiday cottage at The Cud Life. Originally being part of the farmhouse before it was split into two, leaving 3 bedrooms, a large living room and kitchen as well as family bathroom and large hallway. Many unique and unusual features including a historic well under the kitchen floor (don't worry it is safely capped off and covered up now!).

Two double rooms, one that can be split into twin beds, and a single room. Lots of home comforts and rainy day toys and games. The cottage is well placed for feeling like you are in the middle of nowhere but the benefit of great mobile phone signal, free wife and the opportunity to have a take away delivered to your door!

For a true taste of Yorkshire, local produce can be ordered for delivery prior to your arrival or during your stay.

Additional Directions Information

Take the A 61 north from Harrogate to Ripon. When you reach the Skipton Road roundabout (where the A59 and A61 cross) continue straight on towards RIPON. Follow this road for about half a mile and you will pass a car sales garage (Motorhouse Cars) on your left. Once you get to the top of the hill you will see a stone sign for Killinghall and a warning triangle that reads RUMBLE STRIPS", indicate right and the lane is exactly where it reads "SLOW" across the road. There is a white marker (in daylight it is easier to look for the line of trees along the lane). Proceed over the cattle grid and along the drive (do not take the fork to Spruisty House) you will pass a glass fronted house before you reach farm buildings. The road passes between the big wooden and brick farm building and the main farmhouse on the right. Cowslip Cottage is the first cottage you get to and Humble Bee is the second. You will be sent detailed directions to bring with you when you book along with food ordering and other useful information.
