Read more about Helme Pasture Lodges & Cottages

Helme Pasture was a typical Dales hillside farm now mainly consisting of award winning conservation woodland. While no longer a working farm, the farmhouse has been renovated for the existing family and has one cottage for holiday guests, as well as the Scandinavian lodges.

There is extensive woodland, managed with the help of Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty volunteers. The woodland contains surface remains of hut circles and enclosures. There are signs of charcoal burning, coppicing and various rural industries. It is now left to nature and for the woodland animals and birds to enjoy. If you are quiet, you may see deer crossing your path as you wander through the woods.

Pets are welcome by arrangement, and there is a fenced-in croft area for dogs to enjoy and many paths of woodland walks to explore.

The accomodation is equipped with all creature comforts. A BBQ/pizza oven area and laundry service is available. There are extensive woodland tracks and magnificent views. Ideally situated for easy access to Harrogate, York, the Dales, the coast and Herriot Country. Warm personal welcome.

The area around Helme Pasture is very popular with cyclists - eg Tour de France 2014 and Tour de Yorkshire in 2016, and a lockable under lodge storage area can store 10+ bikes with multiple shackle points for security.

Accommodation available for weeks or short breaks, changeover days are Mondays and Fridays.

60 odd years ago the Old Barn was originally used to store hay, straw and other feedstuffs for what was the cattle housing and milking area below. While the Old Barn has gone through many changes of use since the 1960’s, it was thoroughly updated and refitted in 2019 to make a high quality and spacious upper barn conversion which is designed for two people (with the capability to take 1 more person if required).

Access to the property is up a few wrought iron steps and into the first floor kitchen/living area which commands elevated views of the surrounding fields, gardens and woodland.

A staircase leads upstairs to the bathroom and bedroom, with old oak beams a feature of the Old Barns past and views looking back into woodland.

Parking is immediately adjacent to the cottage with additional parking available behind the main farmhouse.

While this property is not Visit England assessed, but we aim to at least match and, in some areas, exceed the quality in here when compared with that of our 4 star assessed properties

A large garden area and approx. 29 acres of natural and ancient woodland is available for guest use.
