Easy canalside walks from the doorstep on one of the most picturesque sections you'll find alongside the Leeds Liverpool Canal, with its abundant birdlife.

This is a super location to take in the dark skies and appreciate the setting of our sheep farm, amidst the rolling drumlin hills.

Discover the Yorkshire Dales National Park with its dramatic limestone landscapes and sense of space, the market towns of Skipton, Settle and pretty villages of Grassington, Kettlewell, Bolton Abbey and Malham, the holiday cottages are well situated as a base to tour the area or simply to slow down and explore from the doorstep. Follow the towpath to reach the amazing double-arched bridge at East Marton and watch boats travel through the locks in Bank Newton. Walk or cycle along the towpath or even bring your canoe, paddleboard or kayak to discover this most beautiful section of water from the water itself (Canal and River Trust Licence required).

A beautiful collection of converted farm buildings, Newton Grange Holiday Cottages provide modern amenities and comfort in a delightful setting in the Yorkshire Dales. The historic barn and byres have been sympathetically converted to provide attractive and comfortable self catering accommodation in six well equipped holiday cottages near Skipton. The cottages are graded four star and walker and cyclist friendly by Visit England. Cottages sleep between 2 and 6 people and are ideal for couples, families and groups of friends visiting together with group self catering accommodation for 24 people.

With complimentary Wi-Fi and comfortable furnishings, they are a great choice for family holidays and self catering holidays in the Yorkshire Dales with lots of outside space and room to play. Marvel at the arrival of new lambs in springtime as they skip along in the Home Meadow. From the cottages enjoy exploring the canal towpath and watch colourful barges travel along the Leeds Liverpool Canal. Enjoy sitting back on the patio on a summer’s evening as you take in the fabulous scenery and reminisce over your day out in Yorkshire.

With a network of footpaths and bridleways from the doorstep and the vibrant market town of Skipton just 6 miles away, this is a brilliant location to explore from. Visit Skipton’s famous High Street and wonderfully preserved medieval castle and dungeons. Sample delicious pork pies from Drake and Macefields Butchers, and call in to Walker’s Bakery to try a slice of Yorkshire Curd Tart. Marvel at the historic steam trains at Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway. Say hello to the animals at Hesketh Farm Park and play to your heart’s content in the adventure playgrounds at the Yorkshire Dales Ice Cream Farm and Diner at Halton East, as seen on BBC’s Countryfile.

Walk through the famous ‘hole in the wall’ to find Bolton Priory in its majestic setting by the River Wharfe. General information

Newton Grange is located in the hamlet of Bank Newton, approximately 2 miles from the village of Gargrave, near Skipton in North Yorkshire.

Gargrave station operates trains to Leeds (journey time approximately 50 minutes) and Carlisle (journey time approximately 2 hours) – enjoy the delightful scenery on the Settle to Carlisle Railway.

The nearest international airports are Leeds Bradford (approximately 50 minutes drive) and Manchester (approximately 1 hour 15 minutes drive).

Directions

The easiest way to reach Newton Grange is to approach from Gargrave. However, if you travel in to Bank Newton from West Marton, then please follow the instructions from the middle of the hamlet of Bank Newton to find Newton Grange.

From Gargrave to Bank Newton

From the A65 in the middle of Gargrave Village, take the road to Broughton and signposted to Gargrave Station. Follow this for a short distance until you reach the Mason’s Arms Pub on your right (just before Gargrave Village Church). Turn right here, along Marton Road. Follow for approximately 1 mile until you reach Bank Newton.

From Bank Newton to Newton Grange

Once in the middle of Bank Newton, there is a post box in the wall on the right hand side, and a small bridge on your left over a stream opposite (if approaching from Gargrave), signposted to ‘Newton Grange’. Follow this track past a farm on your left, round a sharp left hand bend over the canal and continue straight on on until you pass the holiday cottages on your right, and reach an open tarmacadam area to your left. This is the car parking area.
