Outside the property has a generous grassed area, together with a spacious glazed garden house equipped with table and chairs. Secure adequate parking. Storage area for boots, wet clothing, bikes etc.

There are many excellent walks in the vicinity of New Close Farm Cottage, with the Pennine Way long distance footpath not far away, and the Three Peaks of Penyghent, Ingleborough and Whernside being realistically conquerable on foot from this location. Those interested in more gentle walking may enjoy strolling to Malham Cove or Gordale Scar, just a stones throw away.

The cottage is ideally situated for days out in the Yorkshire Dales by car with attractions like the pretty villages of Bolton Abbey and Grassington only half an hour away. Herriott country at Thirsk and Bronte country at Haworth. The market town of Settle is just a 10 minute drive away and rail enthusiasts will undoubtedly enjoy a trip on the famous Settle-Carlisle Railway, with its breathtaking scenery. An hour's drive will take you to the Lake District with its unique scenery, or in another direction to the historic city of York with its wealth of tourist attractions.

M6 south to junction 36
A65 south to Settle
In Settle head diagonally across the town square to the left
The road is signposted for Malham/Airton
Keep going up hill twisty tight, keep going
On to the moor, cross one cattle grid
On the moor take left fork sign posted Malham
Across a second cattle grid
You will now be heading down hill. Keep going
As the hill steepens look to the left for a white gable end. This is your target
On the steep part of the hill look for a track off to the left, stone sign saying New Close Farm. Head for the white gable


Travelling North

Take the A65 north from the roundabout on the Skipton by-pass (Little Chef)
Approximately 4 miles you will come to Gargrave
Turn right sign posted for Malham
Approximately 6 miles you will enter Kirkby Malham
Past the Victoria Inn
There is a sharp right hand bend to Malham, take a hard left turn. Sign-posted for Settle
Exactly 0.4 of a mile take a hard right along a farm track, stone sign saying New Close Farm
Over cattle grid
Head for the white gable end
