The Old Barn is tucked away on a twelve acres part pasture and woodland farm. It is a wonderful spot for country walks and exploring all that Cornwall has to offer. Bryher and Mark ,their small flock of sheep, free-range chickens and two dogs welcome you to share their slice of heaven. You can share their lifestyle and join in with lambing, egg collecting and feeding the sheep. Alternatively, you can just enjoy your own private part of the farm, let the wildlife and birdsong enchant you, marvel at the dark night skies and let nature surround you.

The accommodation

  • The traditional farm building has been designed as upside down living so to keep its original character, give light and provide maximum modern living space.
  • Ideal for couples and small families alike. Child friendly equipment and built-in safety stairgate.
  • Fast speed internet and good Wifi
  • Extremely well equipped kitchen with Rangemaster oven and six gas burner hob
  • Large open plan first floor kitchen with large farmhouse dining and comfy lounge area leading on to a sundeck.
  • Woodburner with sustainable wood available from the farm
  • Master bedroom with quality KS sprung mattress overlooking the pretty, rear courtyard garden
  • Single bedroom overlooking rear garden with pull-out bed for extra person. Both matresses  are quality full sized singles though please note this room is ideal for 1 person but is cosy for 2
  • Al-fresco dining on the first floor sun-deck . BBQ/ firepit provided
  • Pretty, enclosed rear courtyard sun-trap for relaxing, drying washing etc.
  • Plenty of parking and covered areas for storage of leisure equipment.

Location, Farm and surrounding area

  • Centrally placed between the historic city of Truro and the maritime town of Falmouth it is easy to explore all that beautiful Cornwall offers you.
  • Fabulous walking with 3 footpaths that lead directly from the farm to the surrounding AONB with ancient woodlands, rolling countryside, Creekside paths and nearby village pubs.
  • The birdsong surrounds you as does the wildlife. Deer graze, woodpeckers drum on the trees behind you; the buzzards soar high on the thermals and the bats swoop around the Orchard.
  • There is no light pollution so the dark skies are a wonder. Sit on the deck with a firepit to warm you and marvel at the starry night sky  
  • NT Trelissick Gardens and water sports Loe Beach are 5 minutes away
  • The beautiful Roseland Peninsula with its sandy beaches and quaint fishing coves is a hop away on the drive-on King Harry Ferry
  • Bryher and Mark are always on hand to offer local knowledge on days out and good places to eat. Copies of immediate walks from the farm and Bryher’s top ten circular Cornish walks with pub/cafe refreshment are available.
  • Delicious Tresithick Farm eggs and sumptuous lamb are available to buy
  • Children are safe here to wander freely, make dens, camp, explore and play as children should.

Additional Directions Information

The directions to The Old Barn are as follows from the A30 travelling south-:

Take the A39 road to Truro and continue on A39 towards Falmouth. At the Carnon Downs roundabout adjacent to the Carnon Downs Club Campsite turn left onto Gig Lane. Continue past the cross roads, past the post box on the left and then turn left down to Tresithick. (Signposted to Tresithick and a 'no through road' sign). Keep going down the unmade country lane as far as it goes (1/2 mile) where you will come to a leafy area with a 5 bar gate in front of you signed with  Lower Tresithick Farm and Barn. Go through the gate and park in the carport on your left or on the slope on the right.

To access The Old Barn you need to go up the outside steps to the unlocked porch and stable door..
