Experience the pure pleasure of a greener lifestyle in The Fuffins, an environmentally-friendly self catering farm cottage. Situated at Hunting Hall Farm, near Holy Island, this listed cottage with large country garden, has been lovingly-restored with care for the environment.
The Fuffins, part of the original Georgian farmhouse, offers gentle green luxury in tranquil surroundings. Old-fashioned features, carefully preserved, include an inglenook-sized fireplace with open stove, exposed beams and an antique roll-top bath. We’ve added a lovely spacious pine kitchen with French doors leading to almost an acre of garden. There are two single beds in the Butterfly Bedroom whilst a heavy pine king-sized bed dominates the main bedroom.
All our beds have deep feather duvets and pillows dressed with organic cotton percale bed linen. Hand stitched quilts cover each bed and towels are heavy organic cotton. At Hunting Hall cottages we use only green energy and natural products, caring for people and our planet.
Hunting Hall is a small family farm, built close by the Low Burn. Beyond the farm the stream meanders through meadows, where sheep graze and wetland plants grow. A farm trail leads walkers through this peaceful countryside.
A holiday at Hunting Hall offers a wonderful diverse landscape to explore. The Holy Island Causeway, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is only five miles away and there are long stretches of deserted sandy beaches with the dramatic costal castles of Bamburgh, Lindisfarne, Warkworth and Dundstanburgh. Inland, towards the Cheviot Hills, the countryside becomes much wilder and there are some breathtaking walks through valleys and over heather topped hillsides. Northumberland has bustling market towns, picturesque villages, stately homes and museums. National Cycle Network Route 1 passes the farm road-end and The St. Cuthbert’s Way lies only 2 miles away, so it’s a perfect base for walkers and cyclists.
We hope visitors to Hunting Hall will discover the wonderful natural heritage of North Northumberland and help us protect this special environment. In 2009 we were delighted to win the North East Sustainable Tourism Award, and in 2011 Hunting Hall won two Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Awards for Excellence; Sustainable Tourism and Farming and Land Management
