Welcome to your home away from home at Troutsdale Farm Holiday Cottages!

Originally the barn stabling the big shire horses this property has a large door opening to welcoming you. As soon as you step inside, you'll be greeted with a beautiful original herringbone brick flooring that leads straight to the kitchen and dining area. The kitchen is a bespoke made, crafted from seasoned oak planks from the farm and featuring gorgeous marble worktops and very well equipped. with dishwasher, microvave, double belfast sink, fridge/freezer, electric double oven.  The locally made large dining table that seats six people comfortably. And when you're ready to head outside, you'll find a convenient utility room for drying all your gear. and boots as well as washing machine and extra belfast sink.

The lounge is the perfect place to unwind after a day exploring the Peak District. Sink into the cozy couches while warming up by the wood-burning stove and taking in the breathtaking Peak District views through the French windows. And when it's time to catch up on your favorite TV shows, you'll love the Smart TV that's ready and waiting for you.

Upstairs, you'll find three comfortable bedrooms retaining full character of the original barn including exposed beams, brick and stonework. wooden vaulted ceilings as well as quality oak flooring throughout.  The King Size Double has an en-suite and large window at the end of the bed to enjoy the views.  Another double and twin room are full of the same character and just off the spacious landing area that showcases the barn's original beams and exposed brickwork. And when you're ready for a long soak after a day in the countryside, you'll love the family bathroom with a bathtub,  with shower over, just off the landing.

Last but not least, you'll fall in love with the enclosed garden, which is perfect for alfresco dining with family and friends. Fire up the charcoal barbecue and enjoy a meal while taking in the 180-degree panoramic views of the Peak District National Park, The Roaches, Gun Hill, Morridge Top Hill, and the most spectacular sunsets you'll ever see.

The spacious cottage barn conversion provides beautiful views of The Roaches, a famous rock outcrop  ridge in the Peak District. In between the market towns of Leek and Buxton with their lovely mixture of shops, cafes and restaurants, this is a wonderful location for family breaks or getaways with friends. With cycling and walking trails nearby, Ashbourne and Bakewell are both within easy driving distance.

Step inside and be greeted by a hallway with a traditional stone floor that leads you to the kitchen dining area. The handmade kitchen bespoke made from oak planks and marble worktops, and the large locally made wooden dining table seats ten people comfortably. The separate utility room is perfect for washing those muddy boots after a footpath walk, and there is also a downstairs WC. The lounge is a warm and inviting space with a cozy wood burner and glass doors that offer stunning views of the Peak District fields and beyond. Sit back, relax, and enjoy your favorite show on the Smart TV while you're comfortable on the seating.

As you climb the unique stone stairs to the first-floor landing, be prepared to be impressed by the apex and roof space of the original barn. There are four comfortable bedrooms, with the family bedroom being the highlight. This room has a king Size Double and adult size bunks,  is full of character with original wooden A-Frames and beams, exposed brick and stonework, oak vaulted tall ceilings, and solid oak flooring, and has a handy en-suite shower room. On this floor there is also a double bedroom with an en-suite shower room and a twin room with fine views over the garden area and countryside and a family bathroom with bathtub and shower over. Another stair case, uniquely made from an oak tree off Haddon Estate, leads you to the second floor, where there is another twin bedroom with vaulted roof ceilings and Velux windows that offer breathtaking views of the Peak District countryside.

The enclosed garden is the perfect place to relax with a charcoal barbecue and locally made garden furniture, making it ideal for alfresco dining with family and friends. Enjoy the breathtaking 180-degree panoramic view of the Peak District National Park, The Roaches, Gun Hill, and Morridge top hill - enjoy watching the spectacular sunsets from the comfort of your own garden.

We are easy to find! Hopefully these directions will make it even easier for you!

Our full address is:

  • Troutsdale Farm, Springbank Wood, Blackshaw Moor, Nr Leek, Staffordshire, ST13 8TJ

From Leek

  • Take the A53 Road (to Buxton)
  • As you come out of Leek you will pass a Restaurant (painted white) on your right hand side.
  • After this you will travel down a steep bank and up the other side.
  • As you come on to the flat you will see the ‘Blackshaw Moor’ road sign on the left - start to indicate to turn left.
  • Just past this sign is our drive way on the left – it is a tarmac tree lined drive with a cattle grid (see below) – there is a small ‘Troutsdale Farm’ grey Sign on the right side of the cattle grid on the gate)

 

  • If you see the caravan site on your left or you get to the ‘Three Horse Shoes Pub’ on the main road – you have missed our drive!
  • Down our drive you will pass our house on the right – keep going to the end of the road (approx ½ mile) which will take you into the farm yard and the barn conversions are on the right.

 

From Buxton

  • Take the A53 (to Leek).
  • You will come over the lovely Peak District countryside moorlands and see some lovely scenery including the Roaches outcrop of rocks to your right.
  • Go past the ‘Winking Man’ pub on your left and past the ‘Three Horse Shoes’ pub on your right.
  • Go past the Caravan & Camping Club site on your right.
  • Slow down, indicate right and look for the mown grass verge and our drive way on the right.
  • If you get to the ‘lay-by’ on your left – pull on, turn round, and come back!

 

  • If you really get lost and ask for directions ask for ‘Ray & Barbara Turnock’ at ‘Troutsdale Farm’ (not Old Shire Stables or The Old Cartshed) as this is what most local people will recognise.
