Food & Drink in East Anglia

Stay in the countryside and enjoy the wonderful farm & local produce we have in East Anglia. On a Farmhouse B&B break enjoy delicious farmhouse breakfasts prepared using fresh local produce, and in our Self Catering Holiday Cottages you can visit the local farm shops to stock up on fresh produce & local wines & beers, and visit the quaint village pubs to sample some regional dishes.
From its extensive coastline Essex has harvested fish and shellfish for centuries, and on Mersea Island you can enjoy fresh local oysters! The village of Tiptree is famous for its fruit growing and is the world centre of jam making, and home to Wilkins Jams and Preserves. The Wilkins factory has a visitor centre and more importantly a tea room where you can try the delicious preserves and buy some to take home!
In the beautiful Colne Valley Handmade by Hadleys make delicious handmade ice cream & sorbet which is sold in many Farm Shops in the region and at The Parlour in Historic Lavenham.  
Norfolk is famous for Cromer Crabs which thrive in the shallow waters of the unique chalk reef just off the Norfolk coast, producing the sweetest, meatiest crustaceans, and also Samphire, which is otherwise known as 'sea asparagus' also thrives well in the tidal salt marshes. If you visit Norfolk in the Spring you will see fields swathed in yellow, some will be for rape which is grown for oil, but you will also see mustard fields! Norfolk is the home of Colman's Mustard and there is a lovely Mustard Shop that you can visit in Norwich!
We have great food producers in Suffolk - Dingley Dell Pork comes from a lovely outdoor pig farm near Woodbridge, and the Pigs at Blythburgh Pork are born on the sandy soils of Blythburgh along the Suffolk Heritage Coast. James White Drinks at Ashbocking near Ipswich make freshly pressed fruit & vegetable juices, and the British fruit juice company Copella is at Boxford. The Suffolk Gold & Suffolk Blue Farmhouse Cheeses are produced with milk from a family dairy at Ipswich, ad at Rendham near Saxmundham Marybelle Dairy produce delicious cream & artisan yogurts. 
In Cambridgeshire visit The Larder at Burwash Manor near Grantchester and enjoy delicious farm & local produce at the wonderful deli counter, and also local meat & sausages from Leech & Sons Butchers Counter. There are also some lovely gift & clothes shops to browse around at Burwash Manor, and a tea room!!

We have many local breweries in East Anglia, including the Greene King Brewery in Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk, Woodfordes Brewery at Woodbastwick in Norfolk, Elgoods Brewery in Wisbech,  Cambridgeshire, and in Essex you could visit the Micro Brewery at The Mersea Island Vineyard at near Colchester.  

In Norfolk we have The English Whiskey Company near East Harling.
