Compton Pool dates back to the 12th century and was lovingly converted into a luxury retreat 15 years ago. The entire site is powered by a biomass boiler, providing hot water and power showers on demand. A 10-minute drive will take you to Torquay, Totnes, or the nearest beach, and there are several major supermarkets within a couple of miles.

Directions from Exeter via the M5 Direction

Route 1: Via Kingskerswell and Bickley Mill

  1. On the A380: Stay on the dual carriageway, passing the first exit for Newton Abbot/Kingskerswell.
  2. Kingskerswell Exit: Take the second exit for Kingskerswell once you pass the flyover
  3. Follow Signs: Follow the signs for Bickley Mill.
  4. Landmark: Drive past Bickley Mill on your right.
  5. First Fork: Drive another 100 yards, then take the left lane at the fork.
  6. Second Fork: Continue along this lane to the end and take a right
  7. Carpark: The entrance to the main carpark will be about 50 yards on your right.

Route 2: Via A380 and Compton Castle

  1. On the A380: Follow the A380 towards Newton Abbot / Torquay.
  2. Newton Abbot Flyover: Take the right lane of the dual carriageway after the exit for Newton Abbot, and continue over the Newton Abbot flyover, following signs to Torquay, A380.
  3. Traffic Lights: Keep straight for about 2 miles. At the traffic lights, bear right following signs to Paignton / Brixham, A380.
  4. First Roundabout: Go straight over the first roundabout.
  5. Second Roundabout: At the second roundabout, turn right following signs to Marldon / Compton (signposted for Compton Castle).
  6. Third Roundabout: At the next roundabout, take the 3rd exit for Compton.
  7. Compton Castle: Drive for about 1.5 miles, passing Compton Castle on your left.

For the Farmhouse:

  1. After Compton Castle: Drive approximately 500m past Compton Castle.
  2. Turn Right: Turn right into Compton Pool’s front drive.
  3. Parking: Park in the designated spaces.

For All Other Cottages:

  1. After Compton Castle: Drive approximately 500m past Compton Castle.
  2. Continue Past Entrance: Drive past the front entrance to Compton Pool, which is on your right.

  4. Bottom of the Hill: Turn immediately right at the bottom of the hill at the Compton Pool sign.
