Great Prawls Farm is an exceptionally pretty sheep farm with 2 cottages,Tamworth and Meadow between Rye & Tenterden near beaches. Fabulous views, walks, and wildlife. Rest, relax & unwind.

Overlooking Romney Marsh, the landscape around the farm is a patchwork quilt of fields and hedgerows, traditional Kentish orchards, hop gardens and local vineyards. The farm is a haven for wildlife as well as people, a rural retreat, where life has a more gentle pace to it.

We have two 4 star self catering cottages, namely Tamworth, which sleeps 4 and Meadow which sleeps 4. Both cottages provide quality accommodation, comfortable, well equipped and fully detached with private gardens, fabulous views and a restful, relaxing ambiance. Time and again our guests remark on the tranquil nature of the setting - from both cottages you can watch the sheep grazing in the fields as the sun sets.

Last year, we designed a series of trails around the farm for the exclusive use of our guests and they have proved very popular. The walks give you a chance to explore and if you are lucky, foxes, badgers, woodpeckers, barn owls, little owls and pheasants, are often spotted and much more besides! Rather than just a place to stay, we think the trails really help to provide a memorable holiday.

Situated as we are, on the Kent / Sussex border, 15 minutes from the coast, you are well placed to see the best of the South East region. Within minutes you can be amongst the picturesque cobbled streets of Rye, star of the BBC dramatisation ‘Mapp and Lucia’. Ten minutes in the other direction lies Tenterden, 'Jewel of the Weald', full of historic interest, antique shops, the KESR Steam Railway, not to mention an extensive choice of pubs and restaurants.

National Trust homes such as Scotney Castle, Chartwell, Knole, Bateman's and Ellen Terry and are well within reach, as are the castles at Bodiam, Hastings, Dover, Canterbury Cathedral or Battle Abbey of 1066 fame.

The local area also enjoys some superb gardens such as Great Dixter, Sissinghurst, Merriments and Pashley Manor.

For walkers there are plenty of routes to explore on the Kent Downs or High Weald, Birling Gap, the ‘Seven Sisters’ and Cuckmere Valley, Sussex Heritage Coast or even the White Cliffs of Dover. Day trips to London or France are very achievable.

The area is very popular with bird watchers and wildlife enthusiasts, there are reserves at Rye Harbour and Dungeness, as well as a wealth of family attractions such as the miniature steam train that runs along the coast from Hythe to Dungeness, the Rare Breed Centre at Woodchurch or Howletts & Port Lympne Zoos.

The safe sandy beach at Camber is very popular with children and numerous other beaches at Winchelsea or St. Mary's Bay have their own individual charm. The Smugglers Adventure Caves or the Sea Life Centre at Hastings are worth a look and both Rye and Tenterden have indoor swimming pools for the children should the weather be inclement.

Our self catering cottages have been a family run farm business for over 35 years, personally supervised and always doing our best to ensure your holiday is a happy one.

‘Tamworth’ is a charming characterful cottage, with ancient period oak beams, vaulted ceiling and a warm, welcoming ambience. Built in the traditional Kentish style, historically, Tamworth was once a pigsty, but don’t let that deter you! Now graded 4 Stars, after a superior conversion, it's a comfortable and well equipped retreat where you can escape from it all.

The cottage sleeps 4 by way of a good sized double bedroom and a twin with two full size singles (additional travel cot / high chair can be provided). The triple aspect lounge come dining area provides a lovely place to relax and enjoys extensive views over the Rother Valley, with choice of sofa or armchairs, 42" Flat screen TV with Sky Free Sat, Radio, DVD player and free WiFi. The dining area, with table and seating for 4, completes the space, along with fully equipped kitchen, including gas cooker, microwave, fridge / freezer compartment, washer / dryer, iron and ironing board. The family bathroom features a bath with electric shower over, hand basin and WC.

The cottage faces south west and the large private garden has uninterrupted views over open countryside. Peaceful fields border the cottage to the front and you can watch the sheep grazing right up to the garden fence! The extensive patio area makes a lovely outdoor dining area complete with garden table and chairs, relaxer chairs and cushions. Double glazed, central heating and generously furnished throughout, there is a parking area for two cars adjacent to the property.
