Aviation Heritage in Lincolnshire
The highlight is undoubtedly the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre at former RAF East Kirkby: exhibits include the Lancaster bomber "Just Jane”, a WWII Spitfire, plus exhibitions on the Dambuster raid and the sinking of the Tirpitz. "Just Jane" taxys normally twice a week during the summer months although this should be checked on their website before visiting.
Lincoln also now hosts the International Bomber command centre which is well worth a visit when exploring Lincolnshire's aviation history. More information can be obtained about the centre at www.internationalbcc.co.uk.
Not to be missed for aviation heritage fans is a visit to The Blue Bell Inn at Tattershall Thorpe. As well as serving excellent regional food and a good selection of real ales, the bar ceiling bears signatures of members of 617 (Dambusters) Squadron.
