Dog Friendly Cottages and Bed & Breakfasts in Devon
Our wide range of cottages and converted barns located on real farms across the county provide a level of independence and freedom that you won’t get staying in a hotel. In fact, many of our Devon cottages positively welcome guests’ pets – providing private gardens or farmland and sharing their local knowledge with you, including the best dog friendly pubs!
Of course, taking your dog on holiday means that you’ll want easy access to some great walks – whether you prefer leisurely strolls or something a bit more active. Often you’ll be able to walk on the farm where you’re staying or you can venture further afield into the delightful Devon countryside. From scenic footpaths and open moorlands to miles of coastal paths and numerous dog friendly beaches, you truly are spoilt for choice in this wonderful dog walking country.
Lots of the fabulous beaches, that Devon is famous for, allow access for dogs all year round. (some have some restrictions April –September so best to double check before you book.) Some of our favourites include Ness Cove Beach at Shaldon (accessible through an original smugglers tunnel!), Soar Mill Cove (a sandy beach tucked away under the cliffs, with rock pools to explore, accessible from the South West Coast Path), the picturesque Linton and Lynmouth with the cliff railway (dogs welcome), and Saunton Sands - 3 1/2miles of golden sands and dunes – perfect for chasing a ball or stick!
You and your dog are also allowed on the Seaton Tramway, which operates heritage trams between Seaton and Colyton in East Devon's glorious Axe Valley, travelling alongside the River Axe estuary through two nature reserves.
Lyford Gorge is another attraction suitable for your canine companion – famed for its wildlife and stunning geological wonders.
Other fantastic places for you to explore include trails along the coast and across Exmoor and Dartmoor National Parks.
