Polhilsa Farm is a 350 acre working arable farm offering bed and breakfast and self catering accommodation; weddings and special occasions; conference and meeting facilities in a range of attractively converted barns. Guests are welcome to fish the 2 lakes or simply enjoy a leisurely walk around the water admiring the abundance of wildlife, flowers and fauna.
Once checked in, the independant nature of the accommodation means guests are welcome to come and go as you please. Polhilsa is just a few miles from the Devon/ Cornwall border making both counties accessible to visitors. Within a short drive, guests can explore Dartmoor or Bodmin Moor - both areas of outstanding natural beauty and offering some of the most breathtaking views. Just a few minutes in the car from Polhilsa and you can be exploring the simply stunning Tamar Valley.
Centrally situated between North and South coasts, Polhilsa provides an excellent base for viewing the rugged North Cornish coastline or the quaint fishing villages of the South Coast. Guests often make their selection of beach on a daily basis according to the weather!
Several local towns including Tavistock with its pannier market, Launceston and Liskeard are worth a visit as are the cities of Truro or Plymouth with its historic Barbican and Hoe. Further afield the towns of St. Ives, Padstow and Totnes should also be added to the list of places to visit.
For the energetic, guests can enjoy cycling the Camel Trail or the Granite Way on the edge of Dartmoor; walk the Cornish moorland or Dartmoor or enjoy the numerous coastal walks that both, Cornwall and Devon has to offer. Several local towns also host good leisure centres should the weather choose to be unkind.
The world famous Eden Project is just a 35 minute drive away. Easily accessible in a day, St. Michaels Mount and the Tate Gallery at St. Ives also prove popular. Closer to Polhilsa is the National Marine Aquarium on Plymouth's Barbican. Several National Trust properties in both, Devon and Cornwall can be visited with ease from Polhilsa.
For the Gardener, we have some superb Gardens that will certainly not disappoint including The Garden House at Yelverton; Cotehele; and RHS Rosemoor.
