Where to stay

Pilmuir is a self-catering cottage set in three acres in the Cairngorm National Park near Boat of Garten, Aviemore. It’s approximately 16 miles/30 minutes’ drive away from the Cairngorm National Park.

The cottage, a former coaching inn, has bags of character with fabulous views over the mountains. The owners do all they can to ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible — they even have an app specially designed for guests!

With four bedrooms and two bathrooms it can accommodate up to eight people. You’ll be warming up in front of the woodburner stove in the living/dining area and cooking meals on the range cooker in the traditional-style kitchen. There’s a washing machine (essential for winter adventures) and even a slow cooker to ensure a warming meal when you return at the end of an exhilarating day.

The garden is set in about an acre of ground where there is a heated thatched hut which makes a splendid outside eatery, and there’s a barbecue area for warmer days if you’re staying later in the year. The garden has a secure area for kicking a ball, a play area for children, as well as a further two acres to enjoy at your leisure. If you fancy a hot tub, this can be arranged at an additional cost.

There’s a separate storage shed for skis and/or cycles and last but not least, the parking area has an electric vehicle charging point.

(Note: Pilmuir’s owners are not currently taking bookings from the website, so it’s best to contact them direct for availability.)
