Swallow Cottage is a lovely well equipped, three double bedroom self catering holiday let, on an organic farm in the heart of the Dauntsey Vale in Wiltshire.
Converted to offer the luxuries of modern living but retaining the traditional features. As an organic farm we have an eco-friendly ethos with our biomas boiler, solar panels and recycling.
The spacious lounge has been made comfortable with a gas log burner and cosy sofas with plenty of cushions. The kitchen is well equipped with a dining area to seat up to 8 people. We supply a welcome pack to all non discounted bookings.
All three bedrooms have king size zip and link beds which can be converted into singles. One of the bedrooms is on the groundfloor next door to a bathroom with shower over the bath. Upstairs is two more double bedrooms and a bathroom with a walk in shower. There is also an area with a desk which can be used by someone needing to work away from the bustle of downstairs. The cottage has free wifi.
A Hot Tub is to be installed, hopefully by the end of May.
Swallow Cottage is well situated, with so much to do and see in the local area. For those liking to visit gardens there is the Capability Brown landscape of Bowood, the stunning Abbey Gardens in Malmesbury and Westonbirt Arboretum near Tetbury. There are the national trust properties of Lacock Abbey, Dyrham Park and Great Chalford Manor and the heritage sites such as Avebury, Stonehenge and Bath as well as our own Doomboard in St Nicholas the Great Church here in Dauntsey. If you are looking for places where they have done filming you can go to Lacock (Poldark), Bath, Castle Combe (War horse) and Dauntsey itself made an appearance in the The Casual Vacancy filmed by the BBC. If shopping is you thing we have the McArthur Glen Outlet Shopping centre in Swindon and Bath nearby.
If you want to go for a walk you could go to Lydiard Park or Westonbirt Arboretum or even walk the Malmesbury River Walk. If you are looking for something a little more challenging you could walk part of the Ridgeway, Cotswold Way, Thames Path or Kennet and Avon Canal.
For children, there is an excellent play area at Bowood, Lydiard Park and Westonbirt Arboretum. A beach at the Cotswold Water Park and animals to see at the Cotswold Wildlife Park or Bristol Zoo.
Going a little further afield there is The Wave and Longlete about an hour away.
