It has a medieval 13th century bridge over the River Monnow, unique in Britain as it is the only preserved bridge of its design remaining-

Penylan, meaning top-of-the-hill, is situated in the Parish of Llangattock-vibon-Avel and was originally part of the historic Hendre Estate, home of the famous Rolls family.
