Escape to Dorothy Barn: a modern barn conversion in the heart of our family farm. Our comfortable and stylish retreat provides the perfect base to explore the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Dorothy Barn is ideal for one or two couples, sleeping up to 4 adults plus a baby across 2 large bedrooms. Choose from a double or king-sized room, each with a brand new ensuite shower room. The former overlooks the tower house ruins and the Pennines beyond, whilst the latter offers spectacular views of the beautiful gardens.
The barn boasts an open plan living and dining area, deep comfortable sofas, a traditional wood burning stove, underfloor heating, unique handmade furnishings, walls brimming with modern art, and acres upon acres of outdoor space. Step outside and discover your own sunny courtyard with a picnic table and BBQ; ideal for alfresco cooking and dining.

Dorothy Barn provides everything you could possibly need for a truly relaxing staycation in the Yorkshire Dales. Whip up a storm in the hand built open plan kitchen, complete with electric cooker, washing machine, and fridge freezer; sink into the comfortable sofas and watch a film on the large TV; and catch forty winks in the cosiest of double beds. Underfloor heating is available throughout the barn, as well as a traditional wood fired stove, with all logs and kindling provided. We even provide welcome tea, coffee, and milk, plus a selection of home baked goodies!
We are ideally situated to explore the beautiful Westmorland Dales: a hidden gem in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Step out your door and follow one of the many footpaths and cycling trails that take you up the fells, over the hills and through sleepy villages. Hike along the famous Coast to Coast footpath, The Westmorland Way, or Lady Anne’s Way. This area of Cumbria is a wonderful biking country, boasting both challenging and relaxing trails around our quiet country roads.
At the end of a long day exploring the sights and sounds of the Westmorland Dales, venture to our community village pub and sip on a delicious pint (or two!), before grabbing one of our homemade woodfired pizzas from our pop-up pizza café and dining alfresco in the large courtyard. We are situated in a designated Dark Skies area, providing ample opportunities for a spot of stargazing. Enjoy watching the sun go down and gazing in awe as the stars twinkle above you from the comfort of your own courtyard!
