You could easily spend an hour or so on our tracks and grass margins and you would see brown hare, partridges, pheasants, yellow hammers and tree sparrows throughout the year. The summer months bring lapwings and skylarks in abundance but our special treat is to catch a glimpse of a family of Barn Owls nesting in one of the owl boxes we’ve put up.
There is an abundance of walking, riding and cycling tracks from the doorstep. Sledmere village (2 miles) has a renowned pub serving food and Sledmere House is a charming stately home with an 18th-century walled rose garden. Further historic houses can be found at Burton Agnes, Sewerby and Castle Howard. Just a 30-minute drive leads to the east coast, with miles of sandy beaches and traditional resorts including Bridlington, Filey and Scarborough.
