Nestled within a peaceful hidden valley in the Dorset countryside, Luccombe Holidays is a 650-acre working family farm with eleven Four Star self-catering holiday cottages.

Guests enjoy excellent facilities including a heated indoor swimming pool, sauna, gym, games room, tennis court, woodland walk and children’s play area. Families especially love the animal feeding experiences, with alpacas, donkeys, pigs and Shetland ponies available to meet during weekends and school holidays, alongside alpaca walking experiences for something a little different. A riding centre located on the farm also offers lessons for guests.

Milton Abbas and the traditional Hambro Arms pub are within walking distance, while Dorset’s Jurassic Coast is just a short drive away.

Nestled within a peaceful hidden valley in the heart of the Dorset countryside, Luccombe Holidays is a 650-acre working family farm offering eleven comfortable and fully equipped self-catering holiday cottages, ideal for families, couples, multi-generational gatherings and groups of friends.

Surrounded by rolling downland, wildlife and far-reaching countryside views, Luccombe provides a secluded and relaxing setting with plenty of space to explore, unwind and enjoy time together.

Voted one of The Guardian’s “10 Best UK Family Farmstays”, Luccombe offers excellent facilities for all ages, including a heated indoor swimming pool, sauna, gym, games room, children’s play area, tennis court, woodland walk and activity hut, table tennis, garden games, lakeside BBQ area and the popular Fairy & Elf Door Hunt around the farm.

Families especially love meeting the animals, with animal feeding experiences including alpacas, donkeys, pigs, goats and Shetland ponies available during weekends and school holidays. Guests can also enjoy alpaca walking experiences and riding lessons at the riding school located on the farm.

Food, Dining & Celebrations

We are delighted to partner with Dorset Country Kitchen, offering a selection of delicious homemade pies, sausage rolls, soups and quiches available during your stay. Guests can also enjoy a range of catering options, including freshly prepared meals delivered directly to your cottage or private dining experiences, making mealtimes easy and relaxed throughout your stay.

A nearby tearoom along the farm track serves breakfasts, lunches, homemade cakes and hot drinks throughout the day, while the picturesque village of Milton Abbas is just a 10-15 minute walk across the fields. Here guests can visit the historic abbey, local farm shop and traditional country pub, The Hambro Arms.

For larger family gatherings and celebrations, guests can also hire Mintern Barn - a shared space ideal for dining together and spending time as a group during their stay.

Luccombe is ideally located for exploring Dorset and the Jurassic Coast, with countryside walks, beaches and family attractions all within easy reach.

The Granary, which is about 200 years old, once held up to 12 tons of corn. It has bags of character with a cosy atmosphere and is still sitting on original oak timbers and staddle stones.

Our pig ‘Prudence’ once lived in the Old Sty, although as you can see from the images it has changed a bit since then! This cottage is 150 years old and is a combination of brick, flint & slate construction. There are old beams which adds huge character. It is single storey with parking by the door.

The Stables, which is about 200 years old, once held up to 12 tons of corn and was home to a number of horses over the years. It is still sitting on original oak timbers and staddle stones. This cottage has bags of character with a cosy atmosphere.

For larger groups there is the option of an interconnecting door through to Lavender Cottage which is blocked when not in use. There is also the option of just having Lavender bedroom with Blossom (with or without the additional bathroom), should a 2 bedroom cottage be required.

Blossom was one of our favourite cows, she was incredibly friendly and loved by all. This cottage, which is named after her, was completed in May 2017.

Turnip was a much loved cow. When she was only a few weeks old she suddenly refused to drink milk, we found the only thing she would eat was turnips. Three years later she became the founding member of the ‘Turnip’ family. This cottage, which is named after her, was completed in May 2017.

Approach Luccombe from Winterborne Whitechurch on the A354, then take the signed road to Milton Abbas (Chescombe Lane).

Our clearly signed entrance is approximately 1.5 miles along this road on the left-hand side - this is the only entrance to Luccombe Farm. The private drive is tarmac and easy to follow.

Continue straight for around ¾ of a mile, passing several speed bumps. You will pass the Riding School on your right, followed by the Business Centre, grain store and several houses and barns.

Continue down into our hidden valley, where you will find your cottage using the site layout map on our website.
