New Holly Cottage
New Holly shares many of the features of our other cottages, offering the warmth and style of wooden interiors. The effect is enhanced by a beautiful new slate floor throughout the downstairs, with the added luxury of underfloor heating. Full central heating and hot water are provided by our eco-friendly biomass boiler, fueled by wood grown on the farm. A wood-burning stove set in a solid rustic fire surround adds character to the main living room.
The modern, soft grey fitted kitchen includes a small fridge and freezer, eye-level oven with built-in hob, and a dishwasher, with all essential kitchen equipment provided.
The sitting and dining area is comfortable and inviting, featuring a grey-covered sofa, two wooden armchairs, and a grey-painted table with chairs finished off with a bright, cheerful red polka-dot oilcloth. Retractable roller blinds add privacy and cosiness in the evenings, while a locally-made oak coffee table provides a quirky, distinctive touch.
The downstairs wet room is finished with large, soft neutral-coloured tiles and includes a wash basin, loo, bidet, and towel rail. It features a large overhead rain shower as well as a slim-line flexible shower head.
Upstairs, there are two bedrooms plus a loo with a small wash basin. The first bedroom has two single beds, soft grey-washed bedside tables with angled bedside lamps, a chair, pine chest of drawers, hooks for hanging, and a large wall mirror. The second bedroom is identical, except one bed hides a pull-out bed underneath, allowing the room to sleep three. Bedding includes plump pillows and soft, squashy duvets that feel like down but are feather-free. Grey fitted carpet runs throughout the bedrooms and landing.
New Holly has its own parking space at the side of the cottage, which leads to a veranda along the front and continues around the east side. This spacious raised area sits among the larch trees and is covered with a slate roof. A solid wood table and chairs are positioned beneath a quirky hanging light made from a cattle drinking trough. In the evenings, a trail of small ground-level LED spotlights runs along the veranda floor, adding atmosphere and guiding the way to the door.
